I've been reading on dslreports.com and when you take the test on my results they ask me for my advertised speed. How do I know what my advertised speed is? and when they ask me for connection they give choices: normal, ppoe, xpppoe, some stuff I don't understand.
On my speed test my score was 1120 kbps/ 757 kbps which I think is good my cable provider is RCN.
Can somebody help me with this? I am totally new on this computer stuff but I like it so much I want to learn everything.
Thanks.:bk
Don't take this the wrong way! When you ask questions, you need to provide more info, ie: Which version of Windows, What software you have on your computer, etc.!
We don't have ESP. Next time, when someone ask you question you'll know what I mean.
As to your question, generally Windows default settings works for most people. Don't mess with it, if you don't know what you are doing!
Next question? :-)
Hey dealie, thanks so much for the info. as for the other dude I have Windows Xp pro, IE v.6 intel 4 1.0 processor, cable internet, blah blah, and I can not use that tool dealie mentioned because is not available from dslreports.com unless somebody know of any other.
Dealie I took the speed test in one of the sites you provided and guess what it scored 2.1 mb they said it was even better than T1 which is hard to believe, but I guess is right.
Go to dsl reports and click on the canadian flag, You will see dr tcp at the top with all the speedtests. Cheers
