I still refuse to play a game that you have to pay for after you buy it. either charge me once, or dont charge me a fee at first so i can just pay the monthly. I still dont know if I'd go for the monthly, but at least I wont feel like I payed for a game and still have to pay for it afterwards.
I feel the same way, Signa. It seems a lot of people are willing to do this, though. They feel the content is constantly changing so it's worth it.
Think of it as server up keep. Like if you set up your own server for your buddies to play on you would still have to pay for bandwidth and server upkeep and up grades. Not that it helps with me I still wont pay to play but it is some justification for ya. I would rather play guild wars. YOu buy the game and play for free for ever according to them.

I know why they charge. i will never dispute that. my problem is that i have games upon games that i never even opened that arent costing me anything to have sit there. One day, when I get to them, I'll be enjoying them at my leisure without having to pay for the time im NOT playing it.

whoa, i missed that one. sorry, a bit of a necro post here. just going through my visited threads list...
yeah, guildwars. love it. own it all. twice. yes, i have 2 accounts of the game so i can play with friends. Id love to see more games set up like that. It isnt as cool not having some level 70 hero come bail you out when you are in trouble, but i think its for the better. you dont get the people coming in and stealing your shit. the game divides it up nicely too. really, if you dont like someone, you never have to see them. i think thats important when you look at all the assholes ive seen on Blizzard games. D2 especially.
