Smile How do u get rid off subtitle?

I have downloaded a movie and it has a subtitle on the movie, not on the dark frame, rather in the movie. would it be possible to get rid off the subtitle or if not at least to cover the subtitle. If so what kind of an easy program is used and what are the step?

Here are the specs. for the movie:
    940 MB (940 MB), duration: 1:50:50, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 53 %, VirtualDubMod 1.5.1.1a (build 1155/release), ,

    Video : 839 MB, 1059 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 576*304 (16:9), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported

    Audio : 100 MB, 127 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3, CBR, , Supported

    Please help!
    Thanks,
I am hoping it is possible!!!!!!

The subs could be hard coded into the movie. IF you dont see a sub file in the folder with the Xvid file.......youre sol.

No it's not possible to get rid of the subtitles if they're part of the video data (other than painting them out frame by frame). You can cover them with a black box or something in any video editing software like avid, premiere, after effects... and even with the basic Windows Movie Maker that comes along with Windows (although I don't see what's the point in doing so).

If you are watching it on the monitor. Just cover it up with something else that can run on top. Like a blank window to cover the subtitle. AVI files will have hard coded subs unless its a dvd rip and they will have them as SRT file to play during the movie for non english parts or for foreign language. I got that movie Taken, and it had hard encoded subs that were in Thai.. Pretty annoying in the beginning but your eyes adjust and you wont focus on it as much.

Holy fuck I want some of that WoW action!

To get rid of subtitles use either a magic marker or a bottle of white out.

This software can trim and crop DVD movies, and even join several DVD chapters/titles into one file. It also lets you select DVD subtitle and audio track.
It's free download and try, maybe can solve you question.

The guy said it was an AVI file. Does your, not so free, DVD software edit AVI's?

Well download zoomplayer and install, it will ask you to download and install many codecs, follow it. Run the movie in it. Try one of the following options
    1) Right click on movie and go to filters-> Directvobsub> hide subtitles.
    2) Right click on movie and go to filters-> ffdshow vidoedecoder > (disable subtitles for menu).
if you cannot do it by above method you cannot disable it, it is hardcoded.

You're all wrong, subtitles can be colored in by having the software compare frames and paint in the subtitle. Its not 100% but at least you have a somewhat accurate representation of what would be in the frame.

You need to download Virtual Dub
    http://www.virtualdub.org/

    Then the filter
    http://compression.ru/video/subtitle.../index_en.html

I've used virtualdub quite a bit so I can probably explain some of its functions, never used this filter so you will have to play around with it or do your own research to see what works best. I've used some of the other MSU filters in the past and they always seemed to work better than expected.
