Windows Longhorn M3 Alpha Build 3683

ok people I'm hopefully downloading Windows Longhorn M3 Alpha Build 3683 from KaZaA at the moment and I was wondering how many people are going to or have downloaded and installed this version of Windows. If u have already what do you think of, have you had many Major problems, is it much better than XP?.Here is what I think the argument for and Against the Alpha are.

    For

Its the latest OS from Microsoft

It "could" be the only upgrade in the future that does not cause problems for p2p (i.e palladium not operational yet)

Its pissing off microsoft me using it (that gotta be a good reason lol)

It has great new feature beneficial to me (Hard Drive Space Viewer in "My documents" or DVD-r burning like CD-r burrning in XP and Internet Explorer 6.05)

    Against

May have problems - lets face it most people dont even like using betas, running a Alpha OS is crazy?

May be new incompatibilities with programs

Long download time for a Program that will soon be redeveloped in a beta

Please post your views and any info you have on Longhorn.

Gonna agree with ya here Krell. That was the first thing I did when i got the new .Net also. its always better to be safe then sorry, especially when it is Microshaft. Can you PM me if you come accross any issues? If i come acress anything I will pass it your way. Thanks.

I downloaded it, a bootable cd version of it, booted to it (after backing up every single thing on my system heh) but it wouldn't boot bleh, went back into XP did an upgrade from there, took 12 minutes to upgrade, never got to the desktop completely. WinFS just destroyed my system, total slowdown from hell, couldn't even go to add/remove to remove it. Bleh. But that's why we do it, to test and see. Looks interesting though.
    Coming soon!

I have gone out on a limb in the past, i still use my beta copy of XP Pro, but I do not think i will be upgrading to longhorn

XP sort of scares me whenever i download a new "patch", but its working great so far, right now i have no reason to upgrade and will stick with XP till it is unsupported, or until ms gets nasty about it

my comp works, i intend to keep it that way, gl with it tho, i would love to see ms lose a few bucks to you guys, keep up the good work! :)

    Works fine

    Works fine with me...
Just had security issues... since my ip has been logged with MS... Should have unplugged the damned cable before installing...

But anyway... I like the theme included with LongHorn, I love the SideBar... beside...
It works really fine with me... I mean... good speed, no freezes... compatible and well... nice GUI...

My prefered feature is the Linux-like desktop, meaning its ability to run up to 4 desktops at the same time ;)

Well that was for me ;)

I think that I'm switching back on XP and linux anyway (since my probs with IP logging)...

hey Skeptikal, where ya been man?

XP has the same virtual desktop manager thingy, it can manage up to 4 desktops

get it at the powertoys for xp site at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp

check out the other toys, i really like the alt - tab replacement, great for multiple IM windows

i like the sidebar thing, ive seen screen shots of it, but i bet its an even bigger resource hog than xp is.....that gui looks like it could be slow on an older machine
