    Smile Ruckus desparate?

Hey there ZP forums. I'm no n00b to the site, but this is my first post to your forums.

As a student, i'm added to all sorts of lists, and Ruckus is one of them. For the uninitiated, Ruckus is a service that attempts to curtail P2P services by offering DRM'ed music to students, requiring instead that institutions of higher learning pay awful sums of money to allow the songs only to be playable on campus.

I got this e-mail from them, and thought I would share it:

    SAVE YOUR MUSIC NOW.
If you like RUCKUS, then help us get more users. This is not a joke.

DO MY PART - click http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u.../facebook.html

    Dear RUCKUS members,

You know that RUCKUS gives FREE and LEGAL music to college students, right?

We’ve recently asked for your help because we need more members to continue to offer the music for free. Unfortunately, the efforts weren’t good enough, so we’re asking you again to share RUCKUS with your friends.

We pay our bills with ad revenue, so we need more users on the RUCKUS site in order to pay the rent and keep your music flowing for free. It doesn’t matter how you do it—share on Facebook, e-mail your friends, or even streak across your quad—just help us save your music.

    Mike, CEO

    Your thoughts?

This is obviously corporate propaganda disguised as a college "cause" and doesn't require much of an argument or forensic examination to expose their plan and who they really are.

My suggestion to you, who were bright enough to find you way here to ask my opinion of the matter, is this:

    Handle it.

    Oy

Judging by the most recent comment, I am convinced that my post here was misinterpreted. I do not support Ruckus or DRM, nor do I support its tactics in getting members to push for a Facebook "cause."

My purpose in posting this e-mail was to alert the ZP community of a small victory in the P2P war that spawned this site.

Please don't think that I expect you to support this rogue tactic by Ruckus in trying to revive their already-failing service. My school paid a pretty penny for the "privledge," and is now no doubt regretting being sold the Ruckus sales pitch.

My post was made in good faith, nothing further.

    You were not misinterpretted.

I merely stated you were not one of the monkeys, and you have the ability to do something about it, and you are sufficiently motivated.

You are uniquely qualified to do what I can not, throw a wrench in the processes.

Thanks for posting here informing us of yet another RIAA tactic.

Ah, then I believe I read your post wrong.

Anyway, I hope to become a member of the ZP community, to add it to the other dozen of which I am already part.

It just really struck me as odd that the "CEO" would beg people to click on their ads. Why charge schools if you're gonna sell ads?
