    Question ISP Woes

Hey everyone, I'm new to your forums and have a little bit of a P2P issue.

A few days ago i received a rather nasty phone call from my ISP, saying the caught me downloading something from thepiratebay.. I have been torrenting for a few years, and after alot of WTFing, i talked to the ISP people and they said i'm not actually going to jail. This time.

So my question to you all is:
How can i continue to torrent w/o getting caught by my ISP?

I use Azureus as my primary client, have a direct connection to the internet (no router), run Vista ultimate X64, and get my torrents from thepiratebay.org and torrentz.com.

    Thanks in advance :icon_salu

You can't, their your isp. What you have to do is try to stay off the radar with forced protocol encryption, and using some IP blocker such as PG2 WITH ADDITIONAL BLOCKLISTS to reduce the reporting organizations from connecting to you then threatening your ISP.

None of it is foolproof or guaranteed, but it helps to some extent.

Otherwise, get a new ISP or just tellem to go fuckoff, they can't arrrest you anyways, just discontinue your service.

No, you cant get thrown in jail for downloading. Perhaps if you owned a Bittorrent site but not for somply downloading/uploading. The RIAA could sue you but its unlikley to do so unless you are sharing lots of music or pre-releases to make it worth their time

Okay, well i feel better now..
It is inevitable that my ISP terminates my service.. Does anyone know if the horror stories about comcast are true? (sorry for asking so many questions)

They dont actually come to your house to ass-rape you with a plunger, that story is FALSE.

They make you come down there to do it.

Tell them that someone else was using your UNSECURED wireless connection and that you are going to password protect it so it won't happen again.

Now get an IP blocker up and check out the open signup thread and get into some good private trackers. Should reduce the chance of this happening again.

Krell you said, 'stay off the radar with forced protocol encryption'.

Are you saying for like uTorrent it's not good to Enable outgoing Protocol Encryption?

    THANKS

also try using utorrent with encrpytion enabled, that useally helps a bit more, and get a couple of private torrent sites, if you insist on downloading more. cause then the complaints will be less

I would also suggest getting a router with nat and also a good software firewall. Along with what Krell suggested.
