Did you limit your upload to 70% -80% of your total upload capacity to allow needed extra internet traffic? You can leave download limit to max. setting, but don't set your upload limit to max.!!!

He may need to throttle back both upload and download.

He should also look for 4226 errors in the event viewer, and other errors in both the System and Application logs.

He should also post what OS he has, his network connection, whether its broadband or dial up, how much RAM he has etc.

This problem may be due to his network card drivers.

have you tried uninstalling utorrent, and then reinstalling?

When you do that you could also try installing a different version / build of utorrent.

    hmm

i have had the exact same problem for a week
as soon as i start downloading something with any torrent client, nothing is passing through internet anymore... well it seems that winamp streaming is still working... msn also (if i don't have to reconnect myself)

but everything http related is dead
i also have to reboot to get it back

i'm trying to find a solution but nothing yet...

Are you using a router, check with others to see they have problems like yours or not. Cheap problematic hardwares, or software drivers are not impossible. If you're sure your ports & config. settings are correct, look harder you'll fixed the problem. :)

i found the solution... for me at least

if you followed Krell's advice to " look for 4226 errors in the event viewer" you might have noticed, like me, these tcp/ip has reach the maximum allowed half open connections stuff.

windows vista and SP2 allow a maximum number of tcp connection, if you reach it, then your connection gets slow or die.

solution is easy : there is a patch here :
    http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=downloads
the patch will change the limit in your tcpip.sys (do a backup please)

explanation of why and how is here: http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=tools

    hope that helps ;)
