Exclamation My XP Professional is like 1/2 second slow, read to find out what I man? ???

Okay I just got my computer fixed and this isn't that big of a deal but if any one knows how to fix it that'd be great because i know this is gonna start bugging me. lol this is only the first day... but anyways my problem is

i finally got xp pro back on my computer and when i click the start button it doesn't like come up right away, like it's 1/2 second short then it use to be, it's hard to explain if u don't get what i mean, like the 1/2 second the start menu i can see but it's dim, then it fully is up, and same thing happens when i go to program files ect.

and even when i do other stuff like right click on desktops, or click on a pull down menu... and this shouldn't be happening, because i have 512Mb ram, 1.82Ghz, and my computers new...

i dunno if i can get much help but anything will do thanks!!

using a offical verison and not a cracked one would help.. Other than that try one of the tweak sites like www.tweakxp.com there is a menu delay which is what it sounds like your complaining about you can get a tweak program or do the registry tweak and it should speed up..

    had the same exact problem....

you need to turn off menu fading, if your processor or video card is bogged down, it takes forever to load those

to turn this off, right click on the My Computer icon, then go to properties, click the advanced tab, then go to performance

i have the first four boxes unchecked, basicly all that deal with fading, or sliding, i havent had that problem since

(btw, mine is a hacked beta copy of XP Pro, and works great :) )

    Talking If I were you

If I were you I would switch over from Windows to Linux. It is much much easier to use than that damn stuff bill gates made. You can do more stuff on Linux. If you like games, mp3's, filesharing or internet, or just plain old typing then this is the thing for you.

    Go to: http://www.redhat.com/software/linux/

Check it out you would probably like it. I just switched over two days ago and i am thrilled at how easy it is.

That is an erroneous statemant, if linux was easier to use, more would be using it. Simple fact is i can install Windows, and everything i need, and be on the net in under an hour.

You have to be a partial programer to run linux (With the exception perhaps of the new redhat)

I had linux, it sucked,(For what i wanted) Networking is a pain, and so is configuring PPPoE, and it crashed often.

I will stick with the NT kernel :tilted

Now, before i get flamed, I know linux has many business applications and uses, and is well suited for a corporate environment. But for typical end users such as myself,
Windows cannot be beat. Games, FILESHARING, Internet
ETC, but i have been wanting to try the new Redhat linux 8.0 (Which ever version it is they just came out with)

    BEST regards,
