Hopefully I'm posting the in the correct thread....
I wondering if anyone knows if there are any programs that are good and fast that my friend who is in Maryland and I'm in Arizona can use to swap files.
We are both behind routers, for me port fwd'ing is not an isssue, but not sure about them.
Looking for something somewhat secure I guess, but mainly easy to use
Thanks

A friend of mine uses https://www.dropboks.com/ and likes it.
I've never used it myself. I use to use yousendit for my needs.
You could always just use an FTP server.

Here is a site that gives a tutorial on how to use BitTorrent to share files. Only draw back is I think you have to enable DHT. Basically you create a torrent, and send the torrent file to your friend and he can then connect directly through you. I would also recommend trying a ftp server if you are familar.

Except bittorrent is probably the worst protocol there is for sharing a file directly between 2 peers. I would recommend publicftp.com, you only have to upload your file once, and then can share it as many times as you like.
Nobody can start over and make a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.
Thanks for all the replies so far....
I will check out those suggestions, but I guess what i'm looking for is something that will allow us to directley share files and folders. Kinda like you can do with AOL AIM but faster without the AOL server drag

It's already tomorrow in Australia
There is an app called orb that might be what you are looking for. You can share your videos, music, and any other file you want just between you and your friend. Added bonus you can also access those files from any other computer with a high speed connection to stream you music and videos, and download files.

I would just setup an ftp server. Easy to use, easy to navigate, easy to add files.
I'm sure theres better ways, but this is what I would do.

You can send files via messenger. About as easy as it gets, but ftp is the best way.
Check out Serv-U FTP .com for instructions.
Thanks again all! All suggestions will be looked into!!!!
