    Question Gnutella against themselves?

I have noticed that the Gnutella Programs I use always mostly connect to their own kind.Ex:look in ur connection window and notice in Morpheus usually connect to Morpheus,Look in Limewire's and Notice limewire usually connects to limewire's,Gncleus seem neutral on what it connects to but usaully connects to its own cause of others kick it off. Now,the number 1 program I noticed to do this is Shareaza,it connects to only itself with a very very few instances connecting ta gnucleus or somethin.I think that if Gnutella programs worked together they would be much betta.BTW i know i didnt name half the Gnuttela programs but they all do it so yeah...Why do they do that, all their really doin is hurtin themselves.

It's not necessarily hurting each other, since each of them has got special features that perform best in an almost homogenous environment.

They tend to connect to each other because most clients have their own host servers that help clients get connected to each other. To get the most variety, get hosts from a GWebCache.

Shareaza doesnt connect just to itself? It connects to G1 Ultrapeers all the time fore me. Limwire and Gnucleus seem to be the biggest among G1s for me. =D

Programs do cluster and that lets that program add their own features without affecting the rest of the network and so they work better and protects from malicious programs to some degree..

Having diversity is not that big a deal as long as the cluster doesnt seperate(which is entirely a developer problem not a user one) then it doesnt matter if you connected to 5 different programs or all the same ones because it does not have any real effect.

I find that out as well
But also QtraxMax is kicked off evry server there is because it floods the network with searches and the network slows down.
Thats why every program is against each other because there is too many programs flooding the network,

    Lightbulb The cause.

"I have noticed that the Gnutella Programs I use always mostly connect to their own kind.Ex:look in ur connection window and notice in Morpheus usually connect to Morpheus..."

This happens because every different Gnutella client use their own gWebCache pages, containing mostly that client's peers(users).Like Shareaza's gwebcache page is http://www.shareaza.com/cache/cache.aspx and Gnucleus's cache page is http://www.gnucleus.net/gcache/gcache.php. So,if you include all the cache pages of all the other clients, then you may be sure that you will connect to all the other clients.:fire I myself have more than 30 gwebcache pages in my discovery service(shareaza). The good news is,nearly all of the clients support each-other's cache page(except the cachepage of shareaza,it uses the G2 network). You may do one thing, try searching by the name "gcache" with google, and add the active pages to your Gwebcache directory. :)
    Always taking the down-side.

There are no vendor-specific GWebCaches (except for the Shareaza cache). LimeWire uses the same GWebCaches as Gnucleus does.

And you won't see XoloX ultrapeers for a while either because they don't support them. XoloX sucks anyways because it is sluggish at searching and downloading and is a lackluster client at best. The only thing going for XoloX is their popularity on Download.com.
