    Nero Problem

I have recently had a problem pop up with nero.whenever i am re-coding a video with nero, say mpg to svcd or really any format, after about an hour my entire computer freezes.the local network light on my dsl modem even goes off.ive tried many different versions of nero trying to fix this, but it doesn't.i don't even know if it's a nero problem.this doesnt happen when simply burning a file, only when i have to re-code a file.can anyone help?

Again too vague. Who knows. What else are you doing when this happens? Whar resources do you have? Are you doing this on a TRS-80 while downloading 8 gigs of goat porn?

You've been here long enough to know how to provide more information. And to know this doesnt belong under the File Sharing forums.

Check your event viewer and see what it tell you.

what, because you post in the wrong section and don't post enough info, Krell's a bastard?

geez. I think you take his man-spirited goat porn remarks a bit too seriously.

I thought it sort of looked like Krell was going to help you out, but now I think you may be better off on that less man-spirited forum.

It sounds like your computer is getting to hot. It requires a lot of processor power to re-encode a video file.
You should try using a program to test the stability of your computer doing heavy load.
You could try testing your processor with the burn-in function in the free program SiSoftware Sandra Ligt. You could probably also get a temperature monitor program for your motherboard from the motherboards homepage.
To solve the problem, you could try cleaning your computer for dust, and maybe you need more cooling.

Or you could try to get better feng shui

    Or could try reverse polarization

or rub two chicken bones together and chants some voodoo shit

or go to another forum where people will tell you the same stupid shit they do here.

Did you read the other Nero threads? Not that I disbelieve that dust can cause a network light on a DSL modem to wane, hell ive seen some pretty aggresive dust mixed with airborn frying grease and cig smoke. Hell I saw a picture of bigfoot smoking. (that may have been photoshopped)

I dont mind being a bastard, in fact it it's not even a conscious effort, but what I do mind is wasting tiime on someone that isnt willing to put anything in to a request for support.

Btw - please use organically grown chicken bones.

    Thank you, boy-i-wonder-what-the-fuck-to-do-now.

The heat theory isn't a bad one. I used to see a 15 deg. c. spike every time I fired up convertxtodvd. Nothing else that I did came even close to that much stress on my cpu. I eventually just gave up on re-encoding. I've got two divx philips standalone dvd players and I have a htpc set up. When I want to grab movies for friends, I'll DL the DVDR version. It takes a lot longer for me to DL DVDRs, but unlike re-encoding, it doesn't completely tie up my machine or stress out my cpu.

When you encode, you're just using the system for encoding, correct? There's absolutely nothing going on in the background, right?

Have you considered other encoding software? From what I've read, Nero isn't the end all be all. It's a good program for burning, but not so great when it comes to encoding.
