I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. Are you asking what programming language is best for coding a p2p app under Windows XP? If so, thats one of those "everyone has a different opinion" questions. Every programming language has "true believers". If it were me, I'd chose C, no freaking ++ either. I like to know where my bits and bytes are going, but not quite badly enough to resort to assembly programming under windows.

I agree....but your post raises qustions in my mind....

What if Steve Gibson wrote a P2P app? Hmmm.....seriously....we should all Email the hell outta him....any P2P app made by him would be prolly all of 50kb and run like all hell on oooold 486's while still having supernode type stuff enabled.....

No I will not fix your computer.

you know you should really give linux a try. you know the funny thing about the l2cache on the old pentium 2 really didnt give me the power to do the multimedia stuff that a guy like me wants to do.

VB isnt used at all anymore its only used by amateurs and virus writers.

C based languages or java are popular. .

Im not a fan of gibson.. All of his free programs arent that complex in many cases i can do the same thing without a program a few are just registry changes and etc. Also he exploits issues like "spyware" and windows to advertaise his own site and his other programs which you have to buy.. The Anti-virus companies have been spreading fear to get people to buy anti-virus products for years and Gibson is no different.

Gibson dumbs things down for the ignorant masses and only give his opinion on things, his site should be treated like any other personal website and not automatically assume everything he says is truth like Windows XP and its "raw sockets" that he went on a rant about when XP first came out with his gloom and doom and how its going to DOS everything and that was over a year ago and you know what no massive dos attacks or anything happened..

Microsoft is a bigger target.. There are just as much security flaws for other operating systems as there are for Windows. But since Mircosoft has a bigger user base and market share they get more noticed than the other operating systems are are a bigger target because of it and the fact that many people who use it dont update and get the fixes or use old verisons so malicious hackers would have the most success..

ok, thanx guys, i've been to the site CCS showed me before, just didnt recognize the name right away

i agree with seph, most of his stuff is based on paranoia, i really dont like people that have to run 5 firewalls so they can protect their music collections from being hacked

honestly, what are the chances of me getting hacked in these remote ways? I dont want to waste my time, i just do my windows updates and anti virus deffs, thats about as far i take security
