Green as a gourd in p2p

I have starband (its all there is here), fair download, no upload.
When someone uploads a Mp3 from me, it is from 3.1 to 1.2 but when I download it is 0.05, 0.10. sometimes but rarely 0.15:green3.
I need help bad, 10 to 15 hrs to download a Mp3 is just plain ignorant. I have tried messing with the settings and came back to default. Heeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllpppppppppppppppppp:mellow

Most likely, Starband just doesn't want you to share files.

Hehe, Yes, I use Starband sattilite system (always connected )with Zone alarm as a firewall and WinXP for P2P. I have a 2100 Xp AMD processor with a MSI Kt 333 board and 1024 DDR 3200 Cas 2 --crusial ram and use 10/100 nick to connect to starband modem, Yep, Yep from outer space, sort of like my old mind.:mellow

Let me start off by saying how much I appreciate all the help. I changed the ports and am now downloading at 4.8, est time 15 min download. Hehe, a lot better than 12 hours.
Now I have another problem, I have 4 people timed out waiting for a connection to download off me, I got to share somehow. make that 6 people now.
That thing is now downloading at 5.92, hehe, it dosent say what kind of a connection he has.
Hmmm, got to get this thing back to sharing. Everybody wants my grandkids kind of music, only had one person download my type of music. Dosent anybody like classical anymore?:shy
    thanks gentleman

Don't worry, ancient, Krell is more 'green' than you, not knowing what Starband was, and not understanding that it's all you have available in your area. And it appears, he is also in the StarTrek fanclub.

However, despite the latency, satellite should still allow fairly good download speed. Due to the high latency it may take longer "waiting for network response", but once they start and get going, you should be able to download fairly fast. Upload is very low, just as you describe. Nominally, as a 56k modem or 64K ISDN. You can even note, that within winmx, if you go to the connection type settings, winmx groups Satellite with 64K ISDN. By the way, this is the setting you should have picked for proper operation of winmx with your Satellite connection. So the first point of action you should take, is to pick that setting if you don't have that chosen already.

jeez man, will u stop dissing people.

blahblahblah...whatever. it doesnt make a difference what Internet connection speed you select. im on ADSL and i chose 56k connection setting. doesnt mean ill be downloading at 4k/s. ill still be downloading at high speeds. it's just for other people to know what kind of connection you got. I've come across some people who lie about their connection. why? so there will be less people will be in your que.

Indeed, it sounded as if I was brown-nosing - not my intent.
