Hi I'm using BitTorrent 6.0. My problem started 2 weeks ago when the downloads suddenly slowed down with no apparent reason. At the moment I have 4 files downloading at the same time and all of them only downloading at the speed of 0.3kb/s or even 0.1kb/s! Sometimes they even stopped downloading all together.
All these files are from different trackers, so I don't think it is a problem of a particular tracker. One file is a popular file with over 700 seeders and yet the download speed is still 0.3kb/s! So this is definitely not anything to do with the number of seeders!
I have also tried using different torrent clients, like utorrent, but still the same problem. I don't think it is the problem of my ISP either as the other internet functions are fine.
What puzzled me is that it used to be ok, but now just not downloading for no reason!
Any help please!
Some ISP's specifically throttle torrent traffic. Check to see if your ISP does. I am not sure how accurate this list is, but it's worth looking at. Bad ISP'sOriginally Posted by Manchai
Do you have a router/firewall? Perhaps port forwarding or firewall rules are an issue.
Are these public or private trackers? Public trackers do not give an accurate seeder/leecher count.

Can you give the names of the trackers on these files?
Example-
http://www.sladinki007.net:6500/announce
http://www.whatever.net (or .org)/announce.php

try something simple to start out with. change the ports to a higher range.for example if it uses say 6300 port then change to 9600

Another possibility is that your torrents are being "poisoned" by the likes of media defender, etc.
Run pg2 along side utorrent or load an ipfilter.dat file with utorrent and that should filter out most of the bad connections. You may find that suddenly your torrents pick up drastically.

What else are you running the background of you computer? and check your firewalls and the antivirus programs
Well some ISP's are sneaky and change their download policy, this happened to me two weeks ago with Virgin without being notified. Check up on that, ideally by phoning.
Make sure you are not connecting to too many peers at the same time, because if you are, along with the other torrents you are downloading, your router/modem will overload.
utorrent also has comprehensive Guides and FAQ sections on their website, I suggest you take a look through them.
It sounds like some throttling is going on though. There could be other details in your Internet subscription that have changed now too, e.g. Internet usage (how much you download).
also are you using a private or a public site? cause i found that with public it is very bad
