Recent study reported that "In Rainbows" was paid for by only 38% of downloaders, but do the statistics hold water?.
Curiously, ComScore Inc, the company whose proprietary data collection allows for monitoring of member's online behaviors enabled their production of this unofficial study, which is in no way supported by or affiliated with the band Radiohead, leads its announcement with a strong anti-downloader statement made by alarmist music industry pundit Fred Wilson.

They still, in all likelihood,received more cash than the record industry would have threw at them for the total sales, a lot more.

This little test was interresting but to be done right some shit needs to change.

The media needs to be offered in different, high quality, formats to give people choices on how they want to store and play the media. A minimum of a dollar should be implemented on new albums because hey..... if people wont pay a dollar for an entire album theyre culture leeches. (and really suck)

I saw a story about the Comscore statistics but they are really just estimating based on the data they data mined. Only Radiohead knows the actual numbers since it was entirely through their system.

The fact that the media and record companies keep trying to do anything they can to try to paint it as a failure or to minimize the number of people who paid for the content . I hope Radiohead never releases the statistics so they are left guessing.
