Convert Pal DVD to Ntsc DVD

Just looking to find out what you use to convert a pal dvd to ntsc dvd. Finding a few new dvd popping up in pal forum earlier then ntsc, especially children movies. Loving the cartoons for my child! Anyways, is there any shareware or cracked programs that I might use?

    Quick and Dirty answer

    1. There is NO one click converting sw to do whole PAL DVD to NTSC DVD.
    2. ConvertxtoDVD can be used to convert the movie only(no menu) to NTSC and make to DVD.
    3. It can be done with half a dozen tools including and not limiting: DVD-RB Pro with CCE, ifoedit... etc. Very time consuming and not worthwhile. cheaper and easier to get a PAL/NTSC DVD player for $50.

You should check out doom9.org. The best site for DVD related tools. There is a walkthrough with links to the files (the shareware files) needed. If you grab CCE and DVD-RB you can follow the pro guide. Like he said, it's time consuming and easier to get a dual supported player.

A friend wrote this for me over a year ago when I was trying to convert a Fleetwood Mac Pal.
Maybe it will help (It includes Doom's tut, but this is a step-by-step...)~

"Ok, so last time we discovered that Chell's beloved Fleetwood Mac dvd was in PAL format, and that was why it would not burn to a dvd properly. Now it has ben fixed, so Chell, you go re download that torrent, and follow these instructions! ;)
(basically this is how to convert from PAL to NTSC)

    1. Follow this to the letter.
    2. Download this
    3. Hit "add title" and add the file output by the pulldown app, and the audio files you demuxed.
    4. Hit "chapters" and put this in:(edit: these are the times for the chapters, you can put any times you want for them)
    00:05:14.00
    00:09:46.00
    00:13:17.00
    00:19:13.00
    00:26:59.00
    00:31:09.00
    00:34:27.00
    00:39:23.00
    00:42:35.00
    00:47:08.00
    00:51:53.00
    00:55:48.00
    01:00:40.00
    01:04:04.00
    01:09:48.00
    01:12:48.00
    01:19:30.00
    01:22:51.00
    01:29:19.00
    01:34:05.00
    01:39:25.00
    01:43:35.00
    4. Open the movie file, and take a screenshot of the intro where it says "Fleetwood Mac The Dance" and save it to the folder. Now go stretch it with photoshop to 720x480. (edit:this will be for the menu)
    5. Hit "menus>create m2v still" and choose your screenshot.
    6. Hit "menus>add new tileset menu" and select the file for the converted screenshot.
    7. Hit "add button", select the "advanced" checkbox at the bottom, and put the button where you want it.
    8. Make the action "jump title 1 chapter 1"
    9. hit "file>author dvd" And .. author the dvd.
    10. Open output files in dvdshrink, and burn with dvdshrink.

    DONE! It works! Yay!

My mom likes it too, she's got Fleetwood Mac records
    So I'm happy :D"

That's why I like .avi to play on the computer, if it's ripped from NTSC or PAL it doesn't matter, because it will play all the same on the PC. Avi is a great equalizing format that throws out the old standards, where players were made for only one area.

I wonder what would happen if you took a PAL avi and converted to DVD NTSC, would it fix the frame rate and play right? I've never tried it.

I just bought a cheap $38 DVD player that plays everything from PAL to AVI. I found this the best solution as converting these formats almost always doesn't play worth a damn, at least in my experience.
