    Age Of Mythology

If you've picked this up, whatchya think? I only know one guy at work who checked it out. He said he had tried the beta version and didn't like it as much as AOE and AOK--but what does he know?

I still play AoK, there's just nothing that allows you to waste many many hours without feeling bad about it. Before AoK I played AoE for a very long time.
I am not even going to bother picking up AoM, the graphics look really cool but I am just not into that god wizard magic shit, I think it is a bad move. I'd love to have picked up an AoE III with another historical theme.

I will keep on playing AoK.

Well personally, I love the classical AOK and AOE I always have time to play those games. I love them too much. I got AOM and I'm playing it everyday, I still play AOK and AOE but AOM is what im into right now. The graphics kick ass, the scenarios are amazing, and the amount of cool units is incredible. I Love that game just like AOK and AOE. I wil always play All three of them because all three are my favorite games. If you want to get a kick out of age of empires, try AOM.

Mythology really interests me, but I kinda feel like the gameplay in aoe2 was better. It was more advanced, more options and that sort of thing. And there are only 3 races. But the graphics kick ass and the mythological units are cool... I definatly reccommend it. When a new game appears, you have to move on.. not stick with the old games.. evolve in your game experience!

I used to love playing ages of the empire and it was really fun.

But once i played AOE 2 that was it for me, the buildings took forever to kill and from half game/half realism it went to total realism. That gets boring, and so now i just play StarCraft: Broodwars and Counter-Strike.

I too had that problem at first StealthStrike! It was really annoying, all my old AoE tactics resulted in my own destruction every time (try a cavalry rush of 15 units on an enemy castle... while their defences are killing you and the castle is shooting you, you get my point). I also got really tired of those fucking enemy trebuchets that would level my civ every single time.

I then turned away and went back to play AoE for a long time, until there was nothing more to be done in that game (I still love that music though). I gave AoE II another shot and found out that it's actually a much better game, it just takes a little bit of practise at the beginning. Nowadays it's still challenging because it's so hard and you can't have just 1 tactic. I play hard with 3 enemy players who are allied. Sometimes the only chance I have is to try to get as many relics in the beginning... then when I have an initial walled in camp and just enough resources to repair after a striking blow from the enemy, I start building an overkill quick assault army to take down enemy monasteries, steal their relics and be out of the place... I then have a more steady supply of gold and the game really begins!

    Give it a second chance.
