So I connect my router wirelessly, and I FTP to my Xbox (not 360) via a crossover cable. My wireless connection is always on, but I just connect to my Xbox every once in a while. I'm able to connect to the Xbox, but when i start transferring a lot of data, my wireless data rate will slowly drop and eventually die out over the course of about a minute.
It doesn't really make too much sense to me because they're two different connections.
Anyone have any insight on this?

Are you downloading a lot of data on your PC or PC's at the same time?I might not be understanding the question fully.If you're downloading things on your computer or multiple computers in your home,your connection will become slow(it shouldn't stop completely however) because it is distributing the speed between multiple machines.
It doesn't matter if one connection is wireless and one connection is wired;it's sharing the same bandwidth your internet provider provides you.
Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear before.
Process 1: Using wireless connection to router - accessing internet. Uses bandwidth.
Process 2: Using crossover cable to connect directly to Xbox, no internet access involved. Uses no bandwidth.
Hopefully this clarifies it.
Sounds like a bad wireless card or driver. Some of the really cheap cards warm up and drift off frequency when transmitting a lot.

Actual answer, is probably what he said above. First thing you have a wireless connection to your router but when you go wired to the router with the kids toy the wireless slows down. Depends where you are sending the data to and where it's from. If the X-Box is dragging data from the net, it might be just there's not enough bandwidth.
Troll: Take it out anyway and shoot it.
