credits on the tvtorrents.com, whats the point?

just took a look at the tvtorrents.com FAQ... didnt get the point of the credits. it seems like tvtorrents.com doesnt have any ratio system (that shows ratio between upld and dwld)... just the credits.
why a user should care about the amount of credits he has? I dont get it... you never lose your credits, the amount of credits only grows up. the FAQ doesnt say that a user gets banned or some restrictions if he will not gather x credits per months or something like that.
anyone gets the point of the credits?

you can give creds and there is a ratio system that will dissable you if you fall into negative creds

GCreds are kind of a way to track your buffer and are like scores too. The way it works is that if you want a show, you have to "buy" it with GCreds. If a show is 1 gigabyte then it'll cost you 1 GCred to download it. You earn GCreds buy upload past 1.0 ration. If you uploaded 5.0 on a 1 gig file you'd earn 4 GCreds that you could spend somewhere else. It's really no different than a ration system, except that noone can have a ration below 1 because if you don't have the buffer to "spend" then you can't download the file.

In my opinion it's just more fun. I build mine up all the time because it's just fun to see that you have 800 Gcreds. :)

The way it works is that if you want a show, you have to "buy" it with GCreds. If a show is 1 gigabyte then it'll cost you 1 GCred to download it.

never knew you can lose your credits (except if you give it away by inviting someone).
well... I never used tvtorrents.com just took a look at the FAQ today - didnt find anything about losing the credits or banning users that have negative amount of credits.

34. What are credits?
Credits are counted when you upload and download to make sure you give back about as much as you take out. Remember, this is a peer 2 peer network. Everything YOU take out, someone else has to put in!!
READ FAQ #52 !!!!!. We're really tired of the "my computer crashed and I lost all my files, can I have some credits to get started, I promise I"ll seed, I have a great ratio on other sites!" Well, if you do, then download something from there that needs seeded here, then get the torrent from here (FAQ #26) and seed until you are back to positive credits. Thank you!

35. How do I get credits?
When you upload, seed or share your file using the TVTorrents torrent file and tracker, you will get credits. If you're seeding you will get 1.5 credits for each byte uploaded. If you're downloading you will get 1 credit for each byte uploaded in the same torrent.
For example: Seeding 1 Mb will give you 1.5 Mcredits, or download 2 Mb and uploading 1 Mb will deduct 1 Mcredits from your account.

NOTE: See also FAQ #44.


36. Why aren't my credits updating? Is it my client that is causing this?
Your client only reports back to the tracker once every 30 minutes (see client note below). The data is then queued into the database, and the display is also cached. So if you're unlucky it might take a few hours before your credits are updated.

In addition, you must be seeding or uploading files to the TVtorrents.com tracker to gain credits. Any torrents seeding or uploading to other sites will not count toward your credits on TVTorrents. Although most of the old torrents that had DHT enabled on them have been replaced, always check to make sure DHT is disabled on a per torrent basis. DHT allows seeding to leak to non-TVT downloaders and you will not get credits for data seeded to them.

Obviously, in order to get credit for seeding to this tracker, you must be connectable by others using it, too. Try the link test shown in FAQ #13.
Client Note: Both BitComet and BitLord are known to not report properly to this tracker, therefore you should not use them here. We recommend either uTorrent or Azureus instead.

37. I get Insufficient Credits error! I'm blocked from downloading, what's up with that?
When your credits go negative, or the balance is low, it's a signal that you haven't been giving back as much as you've taken and need to seed back to a better balance, or you just haven't built up enough credits yet. You won't be able to start new downloads if you have less than 1 credit. In addition, the number of downloads you can have running concurrently is as follows:


Less than 1 Credit - downloading not allowed
Less than 1073741825 Credits (1 GCred) - 1 download
Less than 5368709121 Credits (5 GCreds) - 3 downloads
Less than 10737418241 Credits (10 GCreds) - 5 downloads
No limits if above 10GCreds
Note: If you are under 10GC, and are receiving errors indicating you have too many torrents active, but your client does not, it is most likely due to UPnP trying to make new connections using different ports. They are treated as new attempts at download. Read FAQ 13 and follow the tips there.
38. Do I have to close and reopen (seed) a torrent to get the 1.5 credits for upload?
No, as soon as you're not downloading any more you will get 1.5 credits for every byte you upload (3 if you're a Premium Member). This is regardless of if you just finished downloading the file and left it open, got the exact same file from somewhere else, or just reopened it again.

This is the true definition of a seeder - someone who has 100% of a torrent.
39. Why are my credits increasing even when I'm not uploading?
When you are the submitter of a .torrent file you get a 1% "bonus" of all the upload generated by the swarm. This is an incentive to get the torrents quicker onto the site.

It's just a kooky way of calculating ratio. GC = buffer. When you leech, you lose credits. If you leech too much, you'll get banned. Same as any other site, just different verbiage.
