It's a opensource project that started to playback replays from the original TA, but now it's a full RTS engine, with Supreme Commander proportions, maybe not as pretty, but it will run on any PC.

My clan [BoK] needs more competition !!
sweet! i loved this game! ill have to try it out some time.
Indeed, its like the mother of big 3d-ish tactical games (cnc was mother of rts)
Although I liked SupCom(the official spiritual sequel), it just too freakin heavy for my PC, i'll wait a couple of years for that game...
I'm interested in this. I haven't played TA though, But I have played supcom, which I like. So I wonder how this will fare?

Total Annihilation is definately better than SupCom imo, but there is definately some unique advantages for each of them. Loads of people still play Total Annihilation, almost 10 years after it's release. I doubt the same will happen for SupCom. Imo they should have waited a couple of years before releasing SupCom, most people simply don't have the hardware to run it yet.
what stuns me about TA is how playable it is after all these years. i ran that game on a fucking 133, and it still runs on current hardware. on top of all of that, the features of the gameplay are just way ahead of its time. its definatly dated, and supcom fixed so many problems i never knew i had with it, but i still pop it on every now and then DESPITE supcom.
@ evilmegaman you may be underwhelmed with TA after playing supcom, but Spring does bring some supcom elements to the table (namely zoom) that breathe even more life into the game. because of its age, TA will run on anything, which isnt something supcom can boast about.
