    Best fps multiplayer

What would you say is your favorite first person shooter to play online? I like doom 3, quake 4, medal of honor, battlefield vietnam, soldier of fortune 2, and a few others but what about you?

soldier of fortune 2 is old but its still the best one ever. I play alot of Call of Duty but its not that great IMO. I love some of the levels but the aiming in that game is fucked up.

Hard as ever and here to make you people believe...as long as there is one person to hold hope and dream...A GOD...will never die!

    Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

    Play it daily.

Multiplayer only, free. What more do you need.

Halo2 for PC has been fun for me recently. But many in that game have found out that if you plug a 360 controller into the PC, you can auto-aim. Really hasn't made it fun after that.

Besides that, all I've played lately is Counter-Strike. Uncontested as the most popular, and in 2 flavors (source and 1.6.)

I also enjoyed Battlefield 2142 and Battlefield 2, and years ago - CoD 1 and 2. Wolfenstein ET is good as well, although I tend to like graphics and I recently hopped in game and could barely tell what was going on due to old graphics (since I was used to the battlefield series.)
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):

    ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
    AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
    Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
    Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer

    Also sporting a black MacBook
    Revision/Release 1
    Upgraded to 2GB RAM.

    Yeah. :/

It isn't horrible if you can get a decent frame rate with the graphic settings high. I'm stuck on a crap board w/ no AGP or PCI-E slots. I have an ATI radeon 9250 PCI version... meh.

Quake Wars: Enemy Territory will be coming out real soon. There is also a rumor of RTCW2.

I like Wolf:ET because it is fast, furious... and objective based. That, and I like the ability to tweak your interface and such.

Other free FPS: Open Arena, Alien Arena 2007, America's Army, and F.E.A.R. Combat (multiplayer only).

Haven't tried fear... it's a 6 gig download. I should give it a go, but since I am in a clan on ET, the game is only half the reason I play.

very nice I will try a few of the games you all have said!!!! What about the goriest games? you know there is the old school turok games then soldier of fortune 2 and even doom and quake. But what is really good for the gore are they taking gore out of games now because of stuff like Columbine? I think that the fragging addiction needs to be surrounded by blood. Well of course half-life is pretty bloody but still not good enough it is getting kind of old!

What is RTCW2? You know there are alot of games coming out speeking of gore like gta for the ps3, and starcraft 2 (which will have blood and gore) and a new turok, and of course halo 3.... I think all of those have great multiplayer potential

RCTW = Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Originally ET was going to be an expansion pack for the RCTW multiplayer, but when they finished it, they decided to release it for free.

It's an old FPS game... but it had a good amount of popularity with Quake fans because it was based on the Quake 3 engine.

I like counter strike, and the quake series (particularly Quake 3 CPMA). umm I also think Red Orchestra, Shadowrun and Halo 2 seem very good too. Those are the ones I like the most.

Quake III: Arena (excessive mod). I've been playing it for years and it never gets old. I also like FEAR Combat. And Counter-Strike and CS Source are cool too.
