Starcraft 2 is really the only game I am looking forward to. I've gone out of the game playing phase a bit, sad to say, but this is a very large exception to the rule.

All I can say to that is; thank you Korea!!!!

Since the original is STILL hardcore there, with professional leagues and all, Blizzard decided to minimally molest the gameplay.

The battles are supposed to be upscaled, w/ up to 300 units at a time, and they ditched hero units.

I never played Warcraft III, but I avoided it when I heard that the hero units took the forefront.

Though, if you don't have some kind of hero units, I wonder how UMS maps will be as they develop.

I only really scrimmaged online for a while, and then got hardcore into the UMS maps, particularly the defense maps.

Hero units would really fuck up Starcraft, I think. I mean, they worked well in Age of Mythology (due to the diversity in hero units based on who you pick), but I did not like them at all in Warcraft III.

I am going to ejaculate several times when Starcraft II is finally released.

Well, Starcraft had "hero" units... were the other ones like completely unique, uber units or something?

I remember Kerrigan and Raynor were tough... but not uber.

Oh yeah I suppose they could be considered hero units, but I'm talking more multi player online aspect. In those games you could use hero units vs other players, but the Starcraft heros were just story oriented.

    Yeah.

They came to play in the UMS maps. There were some crazy ones. I used to enjoy the arena maps, which based the different units off of the hero units.

Custom maps and triggers are what made starcraft great.

I used to play Starcraft nearly everyday for 2 years. I still have the game and expansion and I always really want to play it, but god damn college work always meddles with my plans.

I heard that at Blizzcon a working, playable beta was going to be present. It's rumored that they will give out beta keys for "an upcoming game" as well.
