How do I Delete an erroneous posting?

Twice, Ive been caught by similar situations, where I have posted something and afterward determined it be be erroneous for one reason or another.
I have found a form section with 'Delete/Edit' but I have not been able to get the Delete part to work.
Is there a way that a member can delete his or her own posting?

I delete duplicate posts/threads when I see 'em, even if they're from soulxtc (who, by the way, was really really really good at double posting).

If the creator requested it, and nobody has posted anything relevant or not at all, the entire thread can be deleted. Public or not, I feel it's their choice.
