No sound... can someone help me?

Alright, if there are any computer geniuses in the house I need you now. I've lost the sound to my computer about two days ago and I can't seem to get it to come back on. I've had this happen once or twice before, but it just kinda came back on it's own and this time it's not. I checked the soundcard (Tascam US-428) and everything checks okay for it in device manager, but I went ahead and got the latest drivers just to be on the safe side. However, when I was snooping around in device manager I found one with errors, but I don't know where to go from here...

nVidia WDM Video Capture (universal) - This device cannot start (Code 10)

I'm guessing it's related to my graphics card, but I'm not sure how this would effect my sound. Or would it? Any help would be great.

I'd suggest starting with the obvious basics:

Make sure you haven't muted your volume control. Look at the speaker icon in your system tray. Is there a red circle through it?

Make sure the main volume control AND the wave volume control are both turned up. Double click the speaker icon in your system tray. Make sure the sliders for volume and wave are both turned up.

If you are using speakers, make sure that all of your cables are plugged in securely (and in plugged in to the correct jacks). Make sure they are turned on and the volume is turned up.

Make sure the speakers work. Try plugging in a set of speakers or headphones that you KNOW work.

If you try all of the above and still get no results, then start troubleshooting your computer.

Thanks so much for the help. Apparently on my volume controls in windows the wav slider wasn't showing and I didn't notice that it was missing. So when i made it viewable what was checked but our little buddy mute. :)

    Thanks again.
