The real life is on the left. The real time is on the right.
With better HDR rendering, more colors, and more polygons/shaders, it will look real life in the future.
Color is a big one. The cards will have to process billions of different colors simultaneously.
It's come a long way since Far Cry that's for sure.
A couple of sites I've been working on if you're interested http://www.howtogetfaster.co.uk, [url]http://www.documentaries.me.uk[url] and a new startup http://thelocalseo.co
They do a great JOb at Crysis in my opinion.

as amazing as those screens are, i cant say im all that impressed. not because i dont think its an amazing accomplishment, but the hardware requirements on that game is just too damn high. i have a nice gaming PC, but even it wont run crysis. its games like this that are killing the PC gaming market because only a handful of people will be able to play this game. i cant even imagine how high the cost is to make a game look this good and no one will be able to play it.
you know what? DVDs are cheap enough, they need to make a version that comes with the normal version that allows you to run it on crap PCs. that way more people can enjoy (and therefore purchase) the game. then, when the time comes, they will have the full install disk for when technolgy catches up to this game for the average consumer.
Well Crysis looks just fine and dandy, it's nowhere near real-life graphics. But it's one step closer, so I'm eagerly anticipating the game. I just hope they drop the darn fugly grass.
it's going to be amazing! I can't wait! nice screens, too
very nice screen my man
So what kind of hardware/specs do you think you'd need to play something like this? I just bought a nice new laptop that can play most games(half-life2, doom 3, etc) but I'm guessing no laptop, not even a 3 or 4000 dollar one, can touch a game like this. Pretty much have to buy a desktop and build it up, I guess.
looking at that I wonder how long it will be till we can just render things that look like real life. 5 years? 10?
Incredible. The next step is immersion in the world. Call it 3D, call it VR, but that's what's needed after completely real environments are possible!
