How would you rate Blubster?

Agreed.

The overall selection of MP3s is limited, but the Blubster community is tight. I have a feeling they'll grow...just don't know how fast. So many people camped out in AudioGalaxy, that another MP3 only community is going to take a while to fill out.

YIKES!!! That is a lotta crap! Yea, and the other weird thing about Bluster is that it takes for ever to get all of your files sharing, with my 1,143 file archive it took like 30 minutes to load it all up.

Also Bluster crashes a whole lot with Windows XP, I hope future versions will be better.

The selection is crappy as well it takes forever EVERYTIME to update my library. Just not my cup of tea :tol

Lot of potential. Once it gets AudioGalaxys user base, which they will because of all the blocking, and their new version comes out I think we will see a huge user base jump.

When I first tried Blubster, I was in Win98, and it took forever to hash my files. At first, I didn't care for it much. Shortly after that, I tried it while in WinXP, and it seemed to be much more stable, and the file hashing went smoother and more in the background, so to speak. It did take quite some time to finish hashing my files, but when it did, Blubster seemed to run fairly well. Now when I launch Blubster, it picks up where I left off, only seems to hash any of my new MP3s, and seems very smooth even though I currently have over 4,000 Mp3's shared.

My main concern or issue with Blubster, is that it is very easy to acquire and then share, incomplete downloads, especially if your system locks up for any reason. I would hope that Blubster 2.0 adresses this problem, and uses a system such as what Audiogalaxy uses, and finds some way to add another extension such as .temp to the incomplete downloads, and that it will be able to resume the incomplete downloads on its own. If this occurs, then Blubster will be outstanding overall, in my book.

What's the highest user count anyone has ever seen on Blubster anyway, around 6,000 users for me. Has anyone seen any growth off of that?

Sure Blubster has its problems but nothing a little configuration cant fix.
Is it crashing when you download something? Go to Config >> Downloads and turn off "Try dl from all hosts", this fixes that.

Cant connect? Most likely a firewall problem, or a router prob. Goto www.blubster.net and ask them for help, you'll get it very soon.

Overall, I love Blubster, its all I use for mp3's (mainly...) and when 2.0 comes out it will be the program.

Wow, Blubster has got great approval for a new piece of software, I think controlled and isolated enivronment helps the network's speed and connectivity a whole lot. Sometimes it's better to have one programmer on a protocol than like a bizillion (like the Gnutella Network).

I really think that Blubster will take off once a new version comes along. This version I use now is great, but it still has its share of problems. It is the only thing I use for MP3 d/ls. I like to find file that are at least 160 bitrate or higher. Kazaa rarely has any high quality MP3s. Most of the stuff there is 128, and I can tell a difference in the quality.

Oh yeah, thanks for the tip about unchecking the box to download the file from all users tkr. My shit kept crashing all the time. Hopefully it won't now.

I have been using blubster for quite a while. I think it has promise. I hope the delay in the release of 2.0 means they are working out all the bugs before they release it. My downloads usually go pretty quick, especially for a 56K modem. KaZaA Lite will take care of your bitrate limit. No one should be using the regular KaZaA anymore, unless it has been neutered. :devil

I agree, Blubster could use more people, but I find mostly what I'm looking for. And the downloads are generally speedy.
