This is How We Catch You Downloading

All over Europe thousands of people are being threatened with court action for allegedly sharing games like Dream Pinball 3D on P2P networks. Now, documents obtained by TorrentFreak show details of the anti-piracy company's techniques for identifying alleged file-sharers on the internet... (Digg and comment this)

How I feel about this issue:
I have always been the kind of person that loves to buy just about anything, and for some reason unknown to me in the past year I have been watching how so many companies out here who sell their products online can’t even keep track of our orders, or even keep track of their own products that are being downloaded.

About 3 years ago I purchased a add on for my Photoshop program which I use a lot, as of matter of fact I use it so much it is part of my life. Every year I would purchase a newer update, and never had any problem at all with it, until the weather outside turned bad, and I ended up losing my computer because of a storm which shorted out everything in my home. Although I had insurance which covered most of my stuff, the only thing that wasn’t insured was some software which I had purchased online.

Some one asked me once, why didn’t you have it backed up, and I would tell them I did, and lost my back up as well, so needless to say I started to contact many of the companies where I had purchased this software from, I gave them my name and all info, and just about 3 out of the ten that I had purchased had my information on file, the others? Well let’s just say, “We are sorry sir, you will have to purchase the software again” Are you out of your mind? Do you know how much money I have spent on this stuff? Go and suck an egg is what I told them.

This really just ticked me off, and I really needed my software back but I didn’t want to have to pay all over again for it, so this is what is made me believe that if there is someone out there who doesn’t mind sharing their software with others then why should there be a problem, they bought it, they own it, but from what I have read over and over again, even though you buy software, you are really only buying it to use it, not to own it. Of course we can somewhat understand that, but what about the people just starting out, who don’t have that kind of money to spend on that kind of software, or people in my situation that have bought it, but lost it because of a act of God and the companies refuse to give it to you because they don’t know how to keep track of their own records.

If you take the amount of people that do purchase software to the number of people who download files, the number of people who buy out does the amount that doesn’t so how in the world do they even think they are losing that much money. Ok, I can understand some areas, but come on isn’t this what sharing is all about, wasn’t it our parents that always said we should help others that are in need? I just don’t get it anymore and I don’t get why people like the RIAA need to even care about stuff like that.

Personally I really think that this world is going to blow up, and over time people are going to find ways of sharing that is legal, and we won’t have to worry about this types of people knocking on our doors. I also feel that the internet is growing at such a pace that it isn’t going to be long before someone is going to come up with another program, that will find and delete infected files, spoofs and all that other junk out there, and I also believe that over time we can all rest and share everything from records to programs openly without any problems.
    My two cents

That is why I've built a rocket to take my kids to a distant world where the red sun will make them super-people.
