Never thought about that. What's your luck been, if any?

ive heard that 2 candles set a few inches from eachother can create a sensor-like light for the wiimote to see. they are also making a wireless version of the sensor bar.
Here's Britney Spears' private jet... The gulf stream 3 doesn't even have a remote control for its surround sound DVD system. Still think downloading music for free isn't a big deal?

That will work but poorly, the way the censor bar works is it checks the 8 Ir lights not only for position but depth. What the multiple lights allow is for more accurate depth detection if I am not mistaken. So using candles is not the best option. Quite frankly their is no reason not to build your own, the IR led's are not that expensive for 10 - 20$ you can build a decent sensor bar. If you are not that tech savvy just buy one off the internet for 30$.

^ actually the 1024x768 b&w CCD is built around a single chip tracking up to 4 intense light/dark points (and perhaps anything inbetween

the unit doesn't send images or store them it just tracks light and spits back the 4 hot spots on a gusstimated grid it calibrates in realtime

the clusters are designed with 4 in mind side to side as such (12 34) the use of 10 total is for a a wide range of error on the users part

4-8 super brite IR leds will work to almost any scale (full size etch-e-sketch projected on your wall/full 3d pc control with 2 motes/gaming)

also since the CCD is has no internal IR pass you can remove the filter up front allowing any light source (candles would work perfectly here)
