need some help with the switch

well I have no idea anything about the switches... I'm interested in this switch: Gembird N-Way 8xUTP 10/100Mbits. This is the only info I know... so what could you say from that info? how many gadgets, pc's I could connect to this switch? 8? and what would be the speed of the connections? it says 10/100Mbps... right? but how many of the connections would have 10 and how many of them 100Mbps?

    according to google
    http://images.google.com/images?hl=e...=1&sa=N&tab=wi

so if im not mistaken it has a 8 socket so meaning it can be connected by 8 pc
connection of the speed: it depends to your provider (isp)

but how many of the connections would have 10 and how many of them 100Mbps?:
regarding the speed of the pc's can get, it will depends (as i mentioned above to you ISP)
and you will get software cd to install the hardware (ehternet Gembird N-Way 8xUTP) ao you can set-up the speed of each pc's connected to your ethernet

(if someone know much than what i said please correct if i have mistakes, im willing to learn)

8xUTP there are 8 ports in the switch (UTP stands for untwisted pairs, which refers to how the individual strands of wire in the network cables are arranged). So you can connect 8 computers or you can connect 7 computers and and one cable/dsl modem, or any 8 devices.

Regarding the 10/100 Mbps: That depends entirely on the network card in your computer. Does your computer have at 10 Mbps card or a 100 Mbps card? Also, in your case the 10/100 speed probably will only apply to how fast data will transfer between your computer and your switch or between computers on your network.

This does not mean you will get that kind of speed on the internet - that will depend entirely on your internet connection. You are not likely to get that kind of speed with your internet provider (a full T-1 connection is only 1.5 Mbps).
