ok, I found on google that windows media player should play this type of file...
but my windows media player doesnt open it... it needs some codecs or what? how to play wmv file?
thx in advance.
Your Windows media player will open it but without the codec you might not get video and/or sound. A codec is just a small descriptive file that explains to your media player how to read it.
Search "codec" here and you'll find a huge list Krell made for people including links. In that same search you'll find a how-to written by miniver. Both are helpful. Krell's codec thread
Most likely you need one of two codecs, since about 95% of all internet downloaded video files use either divx or xvid. Search google for these and you can download the codecs for free.
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):
ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer
Also sporting a black MacBook
Revision/Release 1
Upgraded to 2GB RAM.
avoid wmv
filter it in search results
also try vlc player
if it wont play it chances are its DRMed and wont play unless u obtain a licence
.
2 demerits for you.
Reread his post. He isn't at that stage. He literally didn't understand what codecs were. The likelihood that it's a drm issue is small. Let him grow a bit before you feed him more advanced stuff.
yup hence the sugestion that he try vlc as u can drop just about anything into it (even isos)
its as simple as it gets
.
This codec pack has always worked for me... http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm
hey ..hi to all..
i suggest u may try downloading and installing "KLiteCodecPack" which is FREE.
it will almost certainly play any type of audio video file including .wmv files...
:))
this will install "windows media player classic"
which can act as a single media player which can play almost any media file type..
;))))))
Windows media player plays that type of songs.
If are DRMed you must undrm them with fair4use
just google it
In my opinion the best codec pack is in this web site: http://www.cccp-project.net/
You can try videolan client (http://www.videolan.org/) too since the last version can open windows media video 9 files by itself.
If the file has digital restrictions (DRM)... google it, as others told you.
