Without all the hype and BS, how good really is Shareaza ? I'm no newbie to P2P clients, I've used just about everyonw of them out there. From what I have seen in the past all
the Gnutella clients, & Network have been crap. Are there really alot of people online and sharing with this P2P app, or there's not really much out there going on with this client ?
Well now with the all new Gnutella2 as they call it, shareaza is a really good program and it has risen to number one on zeropaid and other sites. I suggest you give it a shot and im sure you are going to like it! :devil
...Is all I can say since you don't want any of the hype & BS.
Yes it's that good!!:upside

Ok the program you say is good but is there anything on this Network, and if so, you don't have to spend your life in a Queue ? And what version do most seem to like 1.6 or the beta ?
Crazy horse, WOW is correct. Shareaza is that good and now its going to be the best app on the planet. =D:sw
The thing is everybody is using the new beta version. If you tried the 1.6 and than the beta, you would probably think that the improvement made over the last version is unbelievable. I suggest you go for the beta alltogethere because its amazing. That is the only word for it, AMAZING. Another thing, hell no to ques. There are no ques in shareaza and if you encounter one it will probably be 1 out of 100 times. Everything you would like to find might not be there but if you start sharing like all the other Shareaza users including me, you will really really think that this is the best. Hope you like and share! Glad to help if i did!:devil
Everytime I see a post saying gnutella isn't anygood etc. I always wonder how their is such differance in peoples experience with something.
I think that is amazing in itself. But it's so common to see that type of reaction I shouldn't be amazed anymore, just wonder what it takes or what a person is or isn't doing to have the experience they are having....
It is true their is a differance in gnutella clients, but my experience with aqualime made me feel it was as good as anything else. Solid connections and fast downloads etc.
Shareaza is definately a stepping ahead now.
Peace
I have 56k and I think the network seems to go relatively fast. I haven't used any version lower than the beta, and the beta hasn't crashed on me yet... so I suggest using the beta :)

Ok since the few responses here seem to favor it. I'll give it a go, but if it sucks then I'm coming after you all

Dont believe the "gnutella2" hype on the betas most of which is being pushed on people here by the hardcore shareaza users here to "spread the word" give there little pitch all which seems pretty similar to the campagins apple has done..
The "gnutella2" network is so small at this point all the beta users are still vastly dependant on Gnutella for files and for most of the search results and really is what all the users is using Gnutella at this point. Yes it connects to "gnutella2" hosts but the number of "gnutella2" hosts is around 1-2 thousand compared to the around 4 hundred thousand existing guntella network.
If you know what your doing then getting files fast on gnutella is not hard to ive done it for a long time. Alot of people have misconceptions about gnutella because they either herd it "sucks" from someone who used it a long time ago or they used it a long time ago. Alot of improvements have been made by all the major programs through the GDF and reguardless how "gnutella2" turns out the GDF will still continue to improve the network.
I haven't often read your posts and agreed with you, however on this occasion I must. I am a Shareaza user, I also use WinMX and Gnucleus. The different systems used by Gnutella and other protocols all have Pro's and Con's. G2 could be the way forward, it depends whether the GDF finally approve it and take it on board. Though as far as I know Mike has not yet released the "spec" for reasons of his own.
Fatboy slack said there are no queues, this is a terminological inexactitude, there are queues, but that's not a bad thing, it's better than "no sources". At least you know you will get it eventually. I could ramble on but I don't want to be accused of adding to the hype.

Rickio, and Sephiroth, I have tried several gnutella programs (probably been 2 months now since), and I just could not find as much music as say, fasttrack, soulseek, or people on DC. However, it has been some time since then, so I guess I should try Shareaza once more :wings
an eagle in your mind
Dealie stfu you dont know jack crap about the program and you are judging it. I am not defending shareaza but as far as i know you are probably one of those people that get on a new program, do one search, dont get 200 search results and say F*** you to the program and uninstall it. Give the damn program a chance dont judge it after a couple min or hours.
It definately takes time and some patience and tweaking or learning more about the various applications.
For example I was one who said edonkey was shit for at least a year. Then I saw a application I really wanted and it was on edonkey, so I bit my lip and tried for it.
I got the app and kept on going and saw that it really worked!
It did take me time to learn but now I am a fan or the edonkey network, using emule now though.
I tried gnutella when napster was still happening, but for some reason I got good results. Now all gnutella apps have not yeilded good results for me. But most have.
Aqualime is not being spoken of much anymore but it has always impressed me. I have downloaded huge apps and lot's of music off gnutella with aqualime that I did not have luck with on other gnutella apps.
All I can say is a casual look at any application will not give you a good example. If it pisses you off, just forget it for awhile but keep it and try it when you got time and patience till you figure it out.
fast-track is fast but I noticed just the other day, rare stuff is hard to find. If you like pop stuff I guess that's your place. I just ignore fast-track these day. Again I suppose if I spent more timne with fast track perhaps I would find what I want. But hashfiles on edonkey make good files a guarantee and winmx and gnutella are spared from all the spyware and weird crap of fast-track, thats another reason I like them.
working with computers takes time and patience, thats the bottom line for good results.
