Anyone got any tips on how to seed faster? My biggest complaint with bitTorrent is that I'm never able to get very good upload speeds.
When using Transmission client with TL tracker; 600 - 700 KB/s downloading, 4 - 5 KB/s uploading.
Ports are open, Firewall is configured properly but still no dice...Any ideas? :icon_scra
what are your true connection speeds (down/up) and how many leechers there are on torrent that you're trying to seed?
IMO TL is harder to seed back, only because normally there are 1000's of other seeds, and only 100's (or less) leechers. This means that the total available bandwidth far exceeds the total bandwidth the leechers are using. This leads to very slow uploads for seeders.
Tip: find older torrents with fewer seeds, but that still have leechers.
Yah, I think that might be it. Seems to be more a TL thing (# of seeders in files I'm trying to upload) because I'm downloading some fairly large files off another site I joined recently and they're seeding back a lot faster (50 - 75 kb). In the past I've used TL almost exclusively and ALWAYS had problems uploading. Your explanation makes a lot of sense though, guess volume has a lot to do with it.
