I was thinking last night that a lot of smaller sites could grow faster, and provide more/better/faster torrents for their users if they had someone to supply them with "stuff" and one or more seedboxes.

The problem is, of course, that seedboxes cost money.

Then I got to thinking about co-operation.

What if several sites all shared in the payments for a seedbox?

Basically what I'm looking to do, is the following:

One (or more) torrent sites rent a server (or servers, if enough money can be gathered).

I send fresh releases to these servers, and seed from them. I understand that the cost of a server might be too much for one site to pay, which is why I'm offering for several sites to join together to pay for the server.

There are two options I can think of, as far as renting a server.

1: The french dediboxes. Not premium bandwidth, but cheap. Good for torrents. unmetered bandwidth. not guaranteed speeds though. €50 a month, or so, for 120GB drive space, and unmetered, up to 100mbit speeds.

2: metered dedicated servers. I know of one that offers a 250GB hard drive and 3000MB of 100mbit transfer for 80 euros a month. I've used them before, and they're very fast. They're more expensive, but in my opinion worth the money.

I'm not trying to scam anyone. I don't want you to send me money. :)

My intention is for you (and whoever else is interested) to pay for the server, all i get is a nice ratio on your site. Smile

I've still to hammer out the finer details, but this is the basic idea. :)
