I'm one of the few people still running Windows 98SE on a computer. I know Windows 98 support ended years ago now, but when I go to the Windows Update site, I get a message about it only being for Windows Operating Systems and no updates. When did they stop having the Updates available?

v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp worked for me. Why didn't the other way? Ideas?

Do you mean you were able to do updates with the above URL. WOW! I thought they stop updating some older Windows OSs a long time ago. I don't even do updates on my current XP machine anymore, instead I rely on third party softwares & common sense!

Yes, they stopped releasing updates (even critical ones) for Windows 98 a couple of years ago now. But the update site was still there for anyone who needed it. Then the other night I couldn't get to it anymore. Then somehow I did. It was odd. It was also odd that it thought I was coming from a non-Windows OS system because I was using a Windows OS (98SE).
