Post Hard disk coolers ideal for using computer 24/7?

    Hi

I'm setting up a new PC and I have a 525W PSU fan with a case fan (probably some other too). Any recommendations for a powerful/effective device? Do I use CFM as gospel?

    Thanks!

Edit: Found one which has air flow of 80 CFM so am looking into that. :)

You typically don't need a dedicated hard drive cooler, like those 5.25" bay adapters with tiny 40mm fans in them. If your case is reasonably well designed, the hard drive bays will be next to a spot for a 120mm fan. Just have fan in the spot pulling cool air from outside the case over the hard drive; the airflow should be sufficient to keep the drive cool. Beyond that, the fan to choose depends largely on how much noise you're willing to stand. If you want quiet, look into Yate Loon or Nexus 120mms, otherwise, most brands will do.

HDD coolers are nice, but not necessary in the vast majority of computers. The parts in your PC are designed to work inside a PC case with decent airflow. If you have one or two fans pulling cool air in the front and one or two fans exhausting warm air out the back, you should be fine. Just make sure that there is adequate room around the outside of your case for air to circulate.

Just make sure to monitor your HDDs temps. If it's above 50C you want to consider additional cooling. This doesn't have to be a designated HDD cooler though, it could just be an additional fan either blowing over, or sucking hot air from the HDD. Use a SMART capable tool for monitoring HDD temps, such as Speed Fan. Ofc, the lower temps your HDD experiences the longer it'll last, but it's hard to tell how important it really is as long as you're not into frying things. If it's below 50C, you are fine.

    Good luck! :)
