A program that works from behind firewall.

Hey, all. I just wanted to let you know there is a file sharing program that works even from behind a firewall. I haven't tested this program myself, so if I'm wrong in any ways, please do not blame me. So, here goes nothing...

My friend, who lives in a dorm, uses this program called "Filetopia," which does have a section here on zeropaid as well. He and I are both on the same network maintained by our university, and I know that none of apps I have tried works on this network (Kazza, eDonkey, Xolox, WinMx, etc). So, I use HttPort to bypass the firewall to use eDonkey as I love this program for providing me with all sorts of movies, isos, etc (except for MP3. Not good on eDonkey). This friend of mine is an idiot when it comes to a computer, but I told him about file sharing programs upon his request and suggested him to use HttPort. But, he did not like the program, so he started to search for a program that worked from behind a firewall. It seems like he tried every single program found on this site starting from the top lol.... And, one day, he comes up to me and goes, "XXX(my name), I finally did it!" He told me that this "filetopia" worked. He even managed to download some full-size dvd-Q movies.

Like I said, I haven't tried, and I probably won't cuz' eDonkey gotta be much better than filetopia as I look at it as the best file sharing program atm. But, if you are behind a firewall, it may be worth a try. The only problem I see is the popularity of the program, which may not be so good. But, again, you won't know what is inside the box until you open it. Here is their website: http://www.filetopia.org/home.htm

    Happy Sharing,

P.S. I don't know anything about what settings he used because he wasn't smart enough to answer to my questions... But, hey, if a guy like him could set it up, I assure you anyone can do it. :)

I Tried the program and it does work from behind a firewall!
HOWEVER: the program is slow and you can't find that much, only the mainstream bullshit, but hey, at least it works at my college!
    Thanks to Tequilla.

It often depends on the firewall, but this is worth remembering for the steady flow of people coming here and asking what they can use.
Sometimes firewalls shut all ports except for those needed for surfing and e-mail. Would this program work for even them?

"most" p2p apps not all I mean the majority of the selection available in the world today do work behind firewalls. but the problem arises that the firewalls need to be configured corresponding to the software you want to use. So k++ ight use a certain blocked port in order to function now you got to know what it is open it up then it works Voila.

Moved to Edonkey. Perhaps someone who's posting now rather than nearly a year ago can help this member. Welcome to Zeropaid.

I'm using eMule for eDonkey network, it can use almost any TCP & UDP ports, just add 1 in front of default port numbers. However, if you're behind a firewall most likely you'll get get an low ID if it worked!

Torrentopia does work, and it's fast, it starts the download pretty fast - but i don't like the interface. Everyone experiences it a little different.
