Cool clouds turn light to matter

A fleeting pulse of light has been captured and then made to reappear in a different location by US physicists.

The quantum sleight of hand exploits the properties of super-cooled matter known as a Bose-Einstein condensate.

The emerging pulse was slightly weaker than the high-speed beam that entered the experimental setup, but was identical in all other respects.
The work, published in the journal Nature, could one day lead to advances in computing and optical communication.

"Instead of light shining through optical fibres into boxes full of wires and semiconductor chips, intact data, messages, and images will be read directly from the light," said Professor Lene Vestergaard Hau of Harvard University and one of the authors of the paper.

dude....take a pack of those wood matches..you know the little stick matches you get in clubs or the convenience store..take one of those...then get a piece of cork...like you can find in any craft store...cork like in the end of a wine bottle etc...drill a small hole in the middle of the cork so that the match will stand upright...now put the cork with match upright in center of cork in the middle of you microwave...now take some styrofoam like is used to package pc parts, etc and arrange it around the cork...light the match...and place a mason jar over the top of the lit match...so that the lip of the jar is being supported by the styrofoam (this way air can still get in under the jar to keep the match lit)...now turn the microwave on full power for 20 seconds and watch the effect on the flame of the match..it turns it into plasma energy....after the experiment is over...carefully remove the jar from the microwave and take it outside to wash it out..be careful as it contains a toxic gas now.

still can't get it right? watch the video here.

you can make plasma in your microwave using a grape it works great. Anyway I have no idea how you post is relevant to the original other then the fact that you mention light.

There have been quite a few discoveries similar to this one where light is teleported to another location. I don't remember the research all that much but I imagine its only useful if it travels faster then the speed of light.
