My first infringement Email (Secure P2P)

Its from Comcast, and it looks generated.

Is there a way to setup security so My IP won't be visible so I won't get Infringement notices?
Think of it as freeware that the company doesn't know about :)

    Short answer is no.

People can offer you a laundry list of manuevers that they think may help you, but there is no sure-fire way to avoid being caught. In fact I would suggest it's better to take no additional moves to avoid detection because they only create a false sense of security.

well..I would use a secure P2P program where your transfers are beeing proxyed and the streams are encrypted!I used it sometimes...but its slow as hell...
If you don't want to do this download peerguardian and run it all the time you use a p2p program.

Crazy........usually the warning is a precursor to getting a nice letter from an attorney.........

First Ive ever heard of a BitTorrent user getting a warning though........using public tracker sites? Peer Guardian?

I would recommend laying low. Some people would say continue on with what you are doing, but I know that if I ever got a copyright infringement letter that I would completely stop everything... at least for a while.

I did have the file at one time, but I deleted it.

Anyway was it the torrent file, or the file transfer that got me flagged?

And I usually download my stuff from IsoHunt, and this one was the ONLY torrent that I got from MiniNova.
Infact I was downloading similar stuff from IsoHunt at the time, and none of them have been flagged.

Are some torrent sites safer than others?

And I just switched to one of the stanard ports for torrent transfers (6991)
Prior to this I was using a non-standard port.

Would this have anything to do with it?
Do they monitpr transfer only on certain ports?

    Anonymous File Sharing

If you notice , my IP address is **********which is located in Germany. That's funny because I live in the USA. My point is use www.findnot.com. Set up your Bittorrent client to use a proxy server. Done. Go to www.findnot.com and you will see your real ip address is hidden and your can download at speeds greater then 300 KBytes per second.

too bad it costs money... i cant wait for the tor network to grow
i dont recommend using it tho.. max is like 5kB/s for me, not worth it. also, p2p with multiple connection stresses the network ALLOT and detracts/repels other users who use the tor network for simple http surfing ... users who would otherwise DONATE!!! :) users like me :(

Yes the short answer is no, but if you are really concerned you can look into purchasing access to a VPN or socks5 proxy server. A simple google search will give you results of such services that promote privacy.

Any service that still tries to sell or give away pop-up blocking software is dubious in my opinion. All major browsers have pop-up blocking built in now. Running a second program to block pop-ups makes no sense.

If you are wanting REAL saftey, stop using BT and use newsgroups and just leech....MUCH safer because you are downloading ONLY and not sharing anything back like with BT.
