    Question Broken mp3 files.

    Hi everybody

I am new to this side of computing, so please make allowance for my ignorance of the subject.

I have recently converted some wma files to mp3, using Digital River's wma converter, but on playing them, they all had several 3 or 4 second gaps of silence.

    Can anybody advise?

    Regards

    Peter

do you still have the original files? if so, your in luck. most likely, there were some errors in the ripping process. there isnt much you can do with the crappy files made. but, you can make a better copy of them if you still have the original(s). if it is absolutely nessesary to use mp3, then get some form of the lame mp3 encoder. if it isnt nessesary that they be in mp3, you might try a newer format, such as ogg vorbis, or mp3 pro(basiclly mp4 or mp3.5)

Thanks for your reply Wonderboy. No I don't still have the orginals, well not on my computer because i stupidly deleted them after conversion. I will just have to reinstall them all.

I am , by nature, leary of anyone with 3 first names, it is almost 100% you will try to kill the president.
    lol... thats just evil.

anyway, krell is right (did i just say that? naw.... heheh) like i said, use somthing better than that shitty ripper, like lame. and also, like krell said, rip it w/o any other programs running, or atleast none that are taking cpu power at the time. if im not mistaken, the reason for this is the encoder will try to record some of the data being used by other programs, and thats where those blips come from. but i could be completely wrong.... if so, i would love to hear what the real reason for the blips is.
