    www.x264.us shut down !

www.x264.us has been shut down by the low life degenerates from MPAA. check the link www.x264.us to get the clear picture. If any of u are wondering, it was a bittorrent private site specializing in the x264 video codec. still it had all the new movie releases available in different video format.

    damn i was PU their,

EDIT: Nevermind, your edit answered my question.
Never heard of it. Was it a private site?

Hope the members were protected. This could be as bad as elite torrents! Whoopsy

    LATEST NEWS

The site has been deleted. Groowh, the previous owner of x264 ordered the server to be stopped and the data deleted. He done this behind all of ours backs and none of us knew anything about it until today.

Thanks to our "emergency donors" we will hopefully be coming back on a brand new server with a new host. We will be free of Groowh - when site is back he will no longer be part of staff and will have no influence on the site at all. Unfortunately the only site backup we have is 7 weeks old. This means that anyone who registered after the end of November will need to sign up again. Any torrents uploaded after the end of November has been lost. Any amount of GB downloaded or uploaded since the end of November will not reflect on your stats.

We really appologise for this and we are sorry for any losses. Please remember to use www.x264.eu - we will not be able to regain the x264.us domain.

Due to the fantastic generosity of our members we have raised enough to pay for the server - Watch this space!

Well thats not really irony (maybe it is, depends on how you look at it :p)but lets see whats happens. It looks like there may be more going on behind the curtain than it seems.

It's a shame that such a good site is down. Can't wait for opening of x264.eu!

Damn shame. But I'm perplexed as to how they can shut sites down that are torrent sites. They basically just index the stuff, and let users post comments to some degree. They don't host any of the material, right?

Don't you think you should know the facts before making incorrect comments on things? The site wasn't shut down by the MPAA, the site was deleted by the guy who paid for the box because he felt like it. All sites have backups, what is a site supposed to do if there is a hardware failure etc? Go "oh well, lets give up then". The site was re-opened under the .eu domain name as the .us still belongs to the old admin (who - if you'd been keeping up with things was trying to sell the domain name earlier.. not something you do if you've been shut down (as they re-possess the domain)).

well for the first few days the link www.x264.us led to a page which showed "this site has been shut down by mpaa", how was one to know if the "old admin" did it or the mpaa !,

Indeed, and thats exactly my point. The comment I quoted was made against the staff who brought the site back up on .eu, which we would not have done had the MPAA being chasing anybody down hence we are neither foolish (as suggested) or wrong to have backups.

Great quality and great compression - download any x264 encoded film and you will see the difference (if it was done right).

it was and "still is" quite hard to understand as to why would the "old admin/braawoh" delete the website for his own gains and then put up a page saying " the website has been shut down by the authority of MPAA", so everybody saw the relation at that time and hence the comments u quoted were made.

My point being that without knowing the situation you shouldn't make sure remarks. I just think that some people should put more thought in before posting, not only does it spread wrong information, you also worry people by making such stupid and unfounded remarks like 'omg they admit to having backups!' - you show me 1 site that doesn't have backups - what exactly does a site do if they have hardware failure... give up?
