Question Cannot override "insert cd2" when installing games

I have downloaded a game for the pc using bittorrents. i have unrared and extracted all the files correctly. i go to the setup exe. and double click and it starts installing. It then asks me to insert "cd2" into the drive. I dont have the cd for obvious reasons and i cannot find a way of overridin it to carry on installing the game. Can anyone help? Thanks :icon_scra

When you unrared, did it came with a "NoCD" patch or cracked EXE file? Check all the director(ies) for the patch or the crack or you may have to search & download from somewhere else. Also, usually there is a NFO file with instructions. Use Notepad to open the file & read it!

you have to mount the second CD with daemon tools. It might be in the mounted CD even..

i would also check for a second set of .rars. its possible that they were unorganized and threw both chopped-up cds into the same folder. if that was the case, when you unpacked the first disk, you only touched half of them.

also, another possibility, though minimal, would be that the installer cant find all the files its looking for and is asking for the second CD. do you know for a fact that there is not supposed to be a second cd?

i remember in dos, copying a old game and the installer prog would just keep asking for disks until the whole thing was done, regardless of how many more disks beyond the original there were.
Here's Britney Spears' private jet... The gulf stream 3 doesn't even have a remote control for its surround sound DVD system. Still think downloading music for free isn't a big deal?

Thanks for your help but it isnt working. figure out how to do it at all. It would be easier if the second cd folder would just have a setup.exe. If anyone knows please do let me know. Also one more thing, Why would my computer restart when i try to boot up a game? thanks

You can disable auto reboot by going into Control Panel > System > Startup And Recovery, then uncheck the box for Automatically Restart under System Failure!

    thanks,

mine kept rebooting when installing FSX

    ow and @ matt_coates,

mount all the Cd's images in different virtual drives, and remember what drive letter each CD is assigned to, then when it asks for the next CD EG:cd2, go to browse and direct it to whichever drive letter cd2 is mounted in, and repeat the process for cd3, cd4, etc

The file you downloaded was probably meant to be mounted using Daemon Tools and not extracted using Winrar (which associates itself to bin and iso files i think).
