eDonkey broke through firewall
Hey, all. I just needed to bring this to your attention. The other day, I started using command line eDonkey (CLeD) because I had a crashing problem with eDonkey and eMule. I live on campus, so I use HttPort to bypass firewall, but then when I started using CLeD, I didn't know how to set it to go through HttPort. As a matter of fact, CLeD doesn't have a config to set SOCKS 4 or 5, which is necessary for a program to connect through HttPort. But, I tried, and I changed the port CLeD listened to for other clients to 127.0.0.1:1080, 127.0.0.1, or 1080. I tried them all, so I don't really remember which one was the one that worked. But, anyway, I had HttPort going, and I turned on CLeD. At this point, I was assuming that my CLeD was successfully set up for HttPort, which was not possible of course. But, then, CLeD DID WORK! I don't know how and why, but it did work, and I even downloaded a movie (Men In Black 2 DVD). HttPort has an indicator of connection speed that changes its color depending on the connection speed. After CLeD got going, I checked this indicator, but that indicator didn't have any color at all, which means there is no program that is going through HttPort. So, still with a slight doubt, I closed out HttPort to see if my CLeD was working on its own. And, guess what? It WAS WORKING. It kept working even after I closed HttPort, which means that CLeD was working behind firewall with no help. I closed CLeD to do some stuff, and I probably changed some other things too, and that must have blew up whatever the condition I had for CLeD to work behind firewall, and I can't seem to do it again. I did succeed to upload, but it doesn't seem to download. Right now, I uses SocksCap to have it go through HttPort, but I think I'm gonna try to find out how to use CLeD without HttPort again when I have some time. Anyways, I thought I should inform you guys.

I forgot to mention, but eDonkey is all fucked up at the moment, so if you try now, nothing (even a normal eDonkey) will not work. I don't know what is going on, but everybody's having this problem. If you go to the forum section of sharereactor, you will find many posts about this current disfunction of eDonkey. (I'm guessing it's something that has to do with servers).
