Hi, I am using Azureus to download at the moment and for the most part it is excellent, except I have a couple of downloads which I cannot seem to complete. They started off great, with a very fast download speed, but when I get over 90% downloaded, I do not seem to be able to connect to any seeders only peers. The health is green, I don't have a NAT error, I am using port 16881, my upload speed is restricted to 21 kB/s as recommended, but even though there are over 5000 seeders I am not connecting with any of them. I am only connected to peers and the download speed has dropped to between 300 and 600 b/s and the ETA is non-existant, but the upload speed stays the same. I do not understand what is wrong or if there is anything I can do to sort it out. Can anyone help? For further information I am running XP with SP2, I have Wireless broadband with built in firewall and I use Peer Guardian. I am not running either ZoneAlarm 5 or Norton Anti-virus. If you need any further information do not hesitate to ask. Thank you in advance for any help/suggestions.
STOP double posting!
This pisses us off big time.
Just because you can connect to a bajillion seeders, it doesnt mean that any of them have the last 10% of the file you want. Eliminate this as a possibility.
.
Well, I apologise for double posting, I didn't realise that it was against the rules.
How exactly do I eliminate the possibility of none of the seeders having the last 10% of the file I want?
I also apologise if this seems like a stupid question, but I am very new to Azureus and although I feel I have done my best to educate myself on how it works, there are still some areas to which I have no proficiancy.
I haven't used Azureus for awhile but for some reason I often needed to restart my computer to solve a whole myriad of problems associated with that program. I'm not an avid bittorent user but from my experience Utorrent is a much better program.
Anyways restarting everything worked for me and it is worth a try. Upon reboot give it 5 minutes reorient itself and hopefully your problem will be solved. If not go to plan B.
So just to get this straight in my own head (cos I'm very tired and not quick on the uptake at the mo). There is nothing physically I can do in order to connect to the seeders, I just have to keep it downloading via peers for the time being and eventually I will connect with someone who is seeding and get the rest of the download? If this is wrong, could you please explain it to me in words of one syllable and then I'll go away...promise.
LOL! Plan B, I love plan B. It usually means threatening my computer with physical damage if it doesn't do what I tell it to. Unfortunately that never works and I am forced to resort to Plan C, which involves a dark corner, a box of kleenex and a bottle of vodka.
What's your Plan B?
well one way to tell it's bad is if everyone is at 90% 2 days in a row
but as long as it looks like the seed is uploading to the swarm ie: some ppl will have slightly more then the most peers in the swarm with the same % complete as you, you should eventually get to 100%
I've never been an Azureus fan, but when I use other BT clients, I am uploading from the files I Dl as soon as the program starts. I do not have to be at 100% to be a seeder.
My statement was based on the fact that at times, there will be plenty of people with SOME of the files, and some of the people with MOST of the files, but not always all of the people with ALL of the files, if this differs in Azureus, please clarify, thx.

i think they are just confusing the termsMy statement was based on the fact that at times, there will be plenty of people with SOME of the files, and some of the people with MOST of the files, but not always all of the people with ALL of the files, if this differs in Azureus, please clarify, thx.
yes u are seeding but no u are not classified as a seeder until u have 100%
u are mearly a contributing leecher
aparently
so u were both right
and to the thread starter, in utorrent u get this great bar that shgows u in different shades of blue which parts of the file is most common in the swarm
tis very helpful
.
Well I am now clearer on the definition of a seeder, unfortunately that doesn't really help me with my problem. Why does Azureus start the download by connecting to loads of the seeds and get to within 10% of completing, but then for apparently no reason it stops connecting to the seeds, will only connect to peers and the download speed crashes from over 100 kB/s to no more than a few hundred bites a second? I have tried updating the tracker, but that didn't help. Is it possible that something is blocking me from connecting to the seeders? I was hoping someone else had encountered a similar problem and managed to solve it.
If I can't find a solution I will try to download the item using another client. Thanks for the suggestion of utorrent. Are there any other clients you would recommend?
Hi again. Thanks to Sparky9 who has very kindly investigated the torrent I was trying to download has discovered that it was infact a fake. The 'seeders' that were being shown by the fake tracker didn't really exist and all the peers that were being shown were stuck on exactly the same part of the download I was. So hopefully anyone else who encounters the same problem will now know that there is nothing wrong with your download client, computer or brain, it's just a fake torrent and you'll need to delete it and perhaps try to find a genuine one. Thanks again Sparky9.
