Question Azureaus Issues - I Don't Know What To Do

Hi, I am using Azureus to download at the moment and for the most part it is excellent, except I have a couple of downloads which I cannot seem to complete. They started off great, with a very fast download speed, but when I get over 90% downloaded, I do not seem to be able to connect to any seeders only peers. The health is green, I don't have a NAT error, I am using port 16881, my upload speed is restricted to 21 kB/s as recommended, but even though there are over 5000 seeders I am not connecting with any of them. I am only connected to peers and the download speed has dropped to between 300 and 600 b/s and the ETA is non-existant, but the upload speed stays the same. I do not understand what is wrong or if there is anything I can do to sort it out. Can anyone help? For further information I am running XP with SP2, I have Wireless broadband with built in firewall and I use Peer Guardian. I am not running either ZoneAlarm 5 or Norton Anti-virus. If you need any further information do not hesitate to ask. Thank you in advance for any help/suggestions.

I've experienced this problem too. Often, I've also found that I won't connect to any peers from the beginning, not just towards the end. I have a few suspicions about what might be causing it but i'll keep them to myself for the moment.

I'll be interested to see if anyone knows for sure what the cause of the problem is.

Have you apply the patch to change connections limit to allow more connections? If not yet, go to the following site to download the patch for Windows with SP2.

Hey, after speaking to a great guy on this site, I have discovered that the reason behind my troublesome downloads is that they are infact fakes. Apparently, these fakes are planted by the people who don't want you downloading the files (I think you know who I mean) and they supply a fake tracker which appears to show that your download has loads of peers, but infact these peers don't even exist. They are also uploading from you, trying to get your IP address so they can track you down. His advice to combat this is not to try and download very new torrents that seem to have lots of peers and only try to dowload from a trusted source. Also, from reading other sites, it is imperetive you have software like Peer Guardian 2 to block people from seeing your IP address. This software is free. Just type Peer Guardian 2 into google and you'll find it.

That was one of my suspicions actually. I'm glad to know for sure.

Azureus comes with it's own plugin called safepeer that does the same sort of thing as peerguardian. Any word on whether it's necessary to use both at once, or if not, which one is better?

They both use the same Block Lists...no need to run both.
