Well there is also Linux.
I been planning in playing with Linux for awhile but have not gotten around to it.
Does anyone have any recommendations for which Linux to start with?
i also did a bit of sounding out about linux, and got alot of good vibes about mandrake linux. I never took it any further though, i hardly have enough knowledge for on OS never mind two. and i wont give up my XP whatever the evils of the gates empire.

mmm does anyone have a site where download is at a fairly decent speed, to get a copy of linux?
You can try the following site to download various linux distributions.
http://www.linuxcd.org
Click on the distribution you like, then select view item.
WWW.LINUXISO.ORG has dozens of different ones (suse 8.1 eval is on my ftp)
thanks you guys!
I'll check it out and probably set it up this weekend. gonna set up a extra puter that's laying around ;-p
peace!

i tried mandrake linux a couple months ago. i really liked it, BUT it is nest to impossible (for me) to install somthing. you need to use a command line.... ehh... im actually semi-afraid of the command line. i grew up with a nice GUI. i NEED it.

what are you talking about. Linux is freeware, open source and downloads are completely legal and even encouraged.
Linux is the only real competition Micro$oft has.

Right click > Save Target As or Save Link Target As in Mozilla.
Enjoy! Don't forget to stay online when you start setting it up - it'll just exit if your not connected - give a fake email addy and whatever else and your done. Also if it refuses to boot to linux try removing your videocard - it doesn't support most cards on it's own...you need to surf around to find a driver for whatever card you have (if someones coded one) I know theres a decent ATI one floating around so do a google search.
