Hangs on Saving Settings when I use Limewire.

Hey all, I'm new so not sure if I should post this in the Limewire section but here goes. I have Win XP home and whenever I use Limewire it always freezes on the Saving Settings screen during shutdown.

I have left it all night to see if it just needs more time but it simply stays there. I have tired making sure that all programs are closed using Ctrl+Alt+Delete but this does not help.

I do have Bit Torrent and have found threads on here about Bit Torrent causing the same problem. However, I hardly ever use it and when I DON'T use Limewire there is no problem.

I don't really know what else to try (my java is updated) so if anyone has any suggestions or needs anymore info in order to help I'd be eternally grateful as its getting really annoying and it can't be good to keep turning the PC off by the switch when it gets to the Saving Settings screen.

    thanks,

    7im.

It may be worth considering the amount of files that you have in you limewire library (saved files) - if you have a large amount then you will have to either put the ones your not sharing into smaller folders or delete most of them -- its all about the delayed-write feature and the fact that your computer cannot handle re-writing massive amount of files every time it tries to change what you have in those folders.

Its not just limewire, but any large file system. I was having the same problem with the amount of films I had on HDrive when I started downloading -- explorer kept hanging on me when I tried to work with the film folders -- thought I had a virus or such -- but once I moved them into seperate (smaller) folders everything improved and I've only had problem once since - when I let 'download folder' get too big

Hope you see this and it helps
