Did you run a Chkdsk or Scandisk on your slave drive?
I've seen that before, on a slave drive, for some individual files. They are corrupted and from what I tried, unrecoverable.
Getting CRCs on drive is usually a sign they are about to fail. I'd backup everything on that drive.
Chances are you can't even delete that file either. Do a backup of everything else and reformat the drive and never really trust it agian.
I might be overreactinig, but anytime a drive even lookes at me crooked, I do a fresh backup.
When I get a new drive, I usually do a format on that drive even if it comes pre-formated.
I would use the Digiwiz Mini PE XT boot disc, and run the chkdsk on those drives, and try to copy the data while booted to the PE CD. You might want to run the Vopt defragger also. Plus there's Norton Disc DR etc etc. I do not have high confidence you will recover the files with no corruption.
If you guys do not have the Digiwiz PE, I suggest you get it, TODAY.

I get Cyclic Redundancy Checks on pretty much every dvd back-up I burn after about a month. So I stopped making back-ups. I do not trust dvd's for backing up important shit at all. They have a shelf life of like one month.
Damn, you might have a shite burner then. I got a ton of DVD backups that are almost 2 years old still working.Originally Posted by black_magiic

Me too. No problem with my media on disks. I have burnt CD's from 1999 that still play flawlessly.Originally Posted by cjules13
I have seen that same error using DVD Shrink before, but have long since moved on to better copying/shrinking software.
Protest long enough that you are right, and you will be wrong
same thing happened to me and HDD failed a couple of weeks later. I wasn't really pissed...the damn thing had been going for 4 years. After that happened, I just built another computer.Originally Posted by infoseeker

A lot of the time this can happen when you burn a disk too fast, or the buffer on your burner is lame. it can also happen if the media on which the data is stored is of low-quality.Originally Posted by infoseeker
I have run into a lot of these error messages and when i cant use a program to "Recover the Data" there is only two more options that are both effective in their own way, but work better together.
this is a bit complicated, but here:
install a faster drive. a fast dvd +/- rw like a 16x works wonders (especially in nt and xp).
if you dont have one, us a program OTHER than explorer.exe (Windows file that always runs the regular transfer of files) to transfer the files. Such as a p2p proggie that allows you to download from yourself. Example: in WinMX, dissconnect from the net to save memory for the transfer and then open your "Library" window. share ONLY from the disk in question and then set your 'MX settings for a Primary Connection.
Click the connect button in the "Networks" window and open a chat room. (If you are offline, you must start a search for something in the "Search" window. Browse and download the file(s) and if this does not work, you may have to use a dos bootup and copy the file(s) directly. You can also try a nifty little proggie:
Knoppix. it boots linux from dc-rom without tampering with the HDD. (Uses a lot of memory, i recomend 256mb+) boot from cd-rom and when you are logged into the knoppix GNU, copy the files from your secondary cd/dvd-rw (or rom, saying you HAVE a secondary) directly to a partition recognized by knoppix.
bit complicated??? These things work for me, but if they dont for you... sorry...lol :icon_thum

Dude your hard drive is REALLY failing.People didn't just tell you that to mess with you.Originally Posted by infoseeker
How will you solve it?By getting as much data as you can off the drive as quickly as possible and throwing it in the trash. There are lots of ways to solve this easy problem, pick one and do it before your data is gone for good.
@Krell---------- Diamond BootCD
it's got the miniPE by Digiwiz along with Hirens and UBCD,all on the same CD.
I don't need no stinking signature
Dude, I have them ALL. It's just easier to point someone to the Digiwiz version as most people will never allocate the time to explore the Diamond. But yes, all things considered, I would (and DO) pass along the Diamond.Originally Posted by nukehella
IN FACT . . . I just sent 10 of this type CDs to the Philippines in a balikbayan box; to someone who sent me a dead drive from there as a favor. Once they get them in a few weeks, I am thinking of asking he copy and pass along to Infoseeker.
