    VideoGames

Its almost the holiday season, that means video games! I want to get GTA Vice city and some other games. How do you people feel about video games? Do you love them or hate them?

next to computing, which is my first hobby, and a computer geek, i also play a lot of video games. my favorite game right now would have to be Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3, NBA 2K3 is pretty good too.

No I will not fix your computer.

you know you should really give linux a try. you know the funny thing about the l2cache on the old pentium 2 really didnt give me the power to do the multimedia stuff that a guy like me wants to do.

For the most part, I'm more interested in the technology behind the games, although some open-ended stuff, like the GTA series, is great. I used to be a total game geek but got tired of being led through storylines...Oh yeah, has anyone played the leaked Doom3 beta?

    Please, Don't make me post

Hello, I have a lifelong obsession with video games. I can't stop playing.

    Systems (In order):

Atari2600 (I love Haunted House and Circus Atari--I can take on all takers in Circus Atari, you bitches)

ColecoVision (okay--wierd layout of the controller)

    Intellivision (emulated via 2600)
(freakiest damn controllers; like a disc for a stick--what was with that)

Odyssey2 (I found it in the trash--who would throw one of these out?)

Then came the video game crash of 1984-1985... when no systems came out and games were less than a buck and nobody still bought them (damn E.T. Video Game)

NES (bad-ass system--great games--Zelda, Metroid, Contra, Metal Tank, 1943, Bionic Commando, and on and on)

SNES (I bought mine before they came out in the rest of the US since I live in Washington--some of the best games ever--Super Metroid, Zelda III, FFII and FFIII, Actraiser, Super Mario Kart, Uniracers, Super Punch Out)

Genesis (really bad colors--I have never been a fan of anything Sega)

Gameboy (fun as hell and got a Metroid game as well as several Zelda games)

PSX (I swapped my SNES and three games to buy this the day it came out for $100.00 less--imagine, what now costs less than $50 cost $300)

The PSX has the best games period
    Metal Gear Solid
    FFVII
    FFIX
    Twisted Metal
    Castlevania SOTN
Jesus, I wouldn't be able to stop

Gameboy Color (they really put this out and only a few games since they soon after went to the GBadvance)

PS2 (Pretty good games and system, I use it as a DVD player too because I am very cheap)

GameCube (only one game so far, Mario Sunshine, but next week is RE0 and the week after that -- Metroid Prime. Definite potential)

Oh Yeah, I also had a Commodore Amiga (awesome system--great games) and have a PC right now, but the PC doesn't have that many fun games (but they do have awesome emulators that I can play my old favorites on that are higher resolution and with saves)

I am now in college and have to put off games, but I still play far too often (I am an addict).

Great list man....all classic except for PS2/Gamecube

I left out FF7....I'm such a dumb shit LOL I played that game so much.....well I played it A-fucking-LOT by the end I had 9999 HP and I could kick Seph's ass with just the sword and no cures/heals......do some real damage with his 4x cut too.....and the his finishing move.....HAHAHAHA....could wipe out a flock of those little troll's with the lights in one shot......kinda got boring once you could kill everything with one hit....anyway that game was the greatest for PSX......I mean the graphics were pretty lame.....but it kept you wanting more....odd.....(From what I've checked out the PSX was pushing it's limits with FF7....Aeries was like some crazy 60some thousand polygon per second deal...so it does seem pretty good for it's time)

    OK OK enough FF7 memorys...

I think I played a few rounds on one of those Magnavox - Odyssey2's......was it red with a switch to go between a tank game/ping pong/ and some odd version of ping pong?

Ever played the original pong? LOL My father has one from his teen years.....fun stuff till you get a headache.....

Most of the Final Fantasy games and almost all the Zelda games....have to be tops on my list...Zelda 2 blew though.....so did FF8.....

Anyway I'm done ranting/spouting off about my youth....

BTW: Emulators rule.....I think I have every one ever made on this one P2 system I have set up.....pop on a set of headphones and tune out to Zelda/Ducktails/ect tunes...obviously while I play....ahhh I so wanna be 7 or 8 again.....childhood ruled....no work nothing but fun.....

Yeah, I hear you in regards to the PS2...I wish it had more great games...it does have gta3 and such, although I prefer those games on comp (better control)...I really only use my PS2 to play an occasional game or DVD...I recently bought a new connector for my NES (the part the games are stuck into) so that I could play games again without the incessant blue/red/rainbow blinking screen stuff...$10 and it works great! :-P [end advertisement] It's funny how NES games cost more than PS games do at used game stores (Gamestop etc)...A used PSX is $29 while a used NES is 49.99, the same as a dreamcast! I was looking for this old RPG called Crystalis (childhood memories) and it's 14.99! They're starting to appreciate in value...Ahh....the days where the main character on the label on the game cart looked nothing like the blocky pile of pixels in the game....haha....Nowadays, games bore me...I don't like traversing pre-contructed plots.....Really, I'm only looking forward to playing Doom3 and Vice City on PC...

Oh yeah, and CCSDUDE, I remember when I got SMB3 in the mail as a birthday present....I was going crazy...I played it forever...That was a great game...I remember my cousin coming over and showing me all these magic whistles and I was flipping out that you could skip entire worlds..

Anyways, favorite childhood gaming memories (in no particular order):
Jumping aboard those airships in SMB3
Playing SMB1 for the first time.
The smell of the packaging from my NES
Playing Crystalis and getting the ice sword, opening up many new paths, only to have my NES decide not to play the game anymore....wuh-wuh... :-P
Playing Contra with my cousin...so much fun...I was haunted by the awesomeness of that game all the way home...
being scared of Zelda for the NES (weird gold cartridges)
Playing Street Fighter2 Turbo for the first time at the roller rink arcade
SNES getting dissed by all the Genesis owners in my elementary school...me secretly plotting to kill them all for their blasphemy (j/k)
Duck Hunt and Numerous Assasination Attempts on that dog
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (and the instant jokes on its name: Donkey Shlong Country 2: Diddy's Shlong Quest)

Wow...that's all I can think of right now....ahhh...memories...But as I said, I really don't play games anymore (cept for GTA)...
