What can you do to fight the RIAA

I have notice on this board and many others, People are always bitching about the RIAA. People on these boards are always saying, F**k the RIAA. They can never take down file sharing. That may be true, but what if they did one day. What if they closed file sharing. What would you do? would you sit here a bitch about it. Thats not going to work. The RIAA doesn't care what we have to say. So instead of sitting here saying, " I hate the RIAA and I hope they die" maybe you should do something and if you can't do anything Then shut up about it. Atleast they are taking action on what they believe is right. But most of us are sitting here doing nothing.

There is something that you can do. Write a letter to your congressman/senator. Let them know how you feel on the issue. The most dangerous influence the RIAA can have, in the absence of any counterbalance from you, the constituents, is in influencing lawmakers to pass bad laws that restrict freedom of the masses, in favour of financial gain for the few.

A promising thread title, but then you fail to suggest anything people can or should do. Here are my 2 cents:
    • Buy CDs, buy lots of them, but buy them from independant artists.
If you don't do the above, at least follow my next advice.
    • Never buy play-disabled CDs (also falsely known as copy-protected CDs).

dont' buy CD's from RIAA artists, especially the idiots that are doing that propaganda campaign against p2p. (ex. britney spears, madonna, anyone who said something here ,etc.)

support bands that like filesharing, even though they are part of a major record label that hates it. (ex, Weezer, Radiohead, Blur, that Tom Petty guy, etc.)

Send Hilary Rosen, Jack Valenti, and other stars of our hatred a nice letter!!!!! I don't know the exact email addys, but I'll dig em out and post them here when I find them.

I'd probably develop a p2p application that blocks out the RIAA and all anti-copyright companies by default as well as keep a vigilant check on them (like http://xsclient.cjb.net) and also list their IP addresses so that others who aren't even involved in the shit i do.. could block them ou, kinda like my list at http://xsclient.cjb.net/m4d.htm or http://xs.fasthost.tv/m4d.htm

I certainly wouldn't sit back and let the retards at the RIAA have an easy time!!

    Peace ;)

"Art Alexakis, Lead Singer of Everclear: "I think the fact that they are stealing recorded music is something that we have to stop. It's taking money out of my kid's mouth. That's the way I look at it. It's wrong. It's inherently wrong. It's stealing." " Why would you want to put money IN your kid's mouth!? He's threatening us by threatening his own kid!! Quick, pirate like there's no tomorrow to keep him from stuffing quarters down his kid's throat!!! :-P
