How can I protect my media?

I'm putting photos up on my blog but I don't want them taken without my permission.

I know it's a fickle subject, and I know stuff like disabling right clicks doesn't cut it.

Anyone have any modern ideas on how to stop people stealing images, videos etc?

Yeah, specially with SCREEN Capture programs. Dont try to protect it, let it be free.

By the way, nice post on a filesharing site =P~

If you really wanted to protect your photos, here is what i would do.

Make thumbnails small enough that can not be used for commecial use.

When a user clicks on the bigger image, watermark the image with your companies logo in a area of the photo that can not be removed or rendered.

    that should help.

Jorge is right on the watermark issue. Most professional photographers do just that. They offer a smaller thumbnail for free use and a larger hi-res with a watermark for viewing. It works well to keep those that might make prints of your photos but wouldn't work for, say, just pictures you want to keep private.

PrintScreen is way too easy a button to find.

Well, I doubt anyone would be interested in these pictures. They're not exactly music or film. They're personal but some of the images are sensitive that I wouldn't want leaked all over the web paricularly. I always do my part on filesharing, for that matter.

Yeah, I was thinking of watermarking my gig photos but I may just dedicate them to some fansites and ask that they credit me for them.

    Thanks.

Maybe you could help me with this though --

How could I put my name in my concert videos? Like say, so "John Smith" would be at the bottom right whilst its playing. I suppose like inserting text into streaming videos.

you can ad a text effect to your video with a simple video editor like nero vision express. it means at least some transcoding of the video though

try searching for a program on google that can watermark your pictures. Or simply put a logo of your website in the corner.
Search for files hosted by rapidshare , megaupload & MORE
